Just to complete this thread, the issue here was that there were a few file names with unicode characters (a different language) and Resolve is currently able to read and write ASCII file names. The log file showed the point that Resolve could not read the file and after we identified the issue and had the file names updated the project is now loading OK. We will look into making this more robust in the future.

The fixed vector feature exists but currently its only available from the Resolve Control Surface and Legacy 2K Plus panels. We have it and a few other items that are only on the panels in the development list. Please report any issues you find in operation to davincihelp@blackmagic-design.com so we can work with you to address them.

Hi, many good points here. Let me first say the Wave implementation is only our first step and given a little time we will update the functionality. Memories are on that list. Regarding the Storage config labels – we see the operation you report and will improve that in the next release.
There is a definitive engineering reason why the legacy DaVinci 2K panels do not operate on the Mac Resolve and so I would not expect that situation to be changed any time soon. All I can advise is to save a little from each job and spring for the DaVinci Resolve Control Surface. It will really make your day and impress your clients too.

  • Hi, can you check on the config screen – timeline confirm options if “Embedded in the source clip” is selected. This is the normal mode. Then add you clips to the media pool.

There is a unintentional shift in the window cursor position while in proxy mode in 7.0.2 however the color correction is in the correct location. You will note these line up when proxy mode is off. We will have a fix in the next update.

Its common for a grading facility to hand a 444 master to another facility to finish and in this case the higher the resolution, bit depth and color space the better.
444 archives on HDCAM SR is also pretty common.

  • Hi, we doen have a single six-core here so I can say how much slower it will be than the dual CPU models.
My guess is it will work for lower resolutions and uncompressed images but you may have playback performance issues with compressed files as the CPUs decompress the images.

BMD post has HDCAM SR and most project are laid off to tape. No issues expected as we have been running it for months now.

  • Single Quad core systems are not ideal. Resolve uses a fair amount of CPU with dpx clips but lots when there are codecs required. The majority of compressed file types use CPU processes and this on top of the normal operation really likes more CPU’s. It will run on a single dual core laptop… you just wont get the full experience compared to a dual quad core 2009 or 2010 MacPro.
I also recommend sticking to the recommended RAM configs. 6, 12, 24GB for 2009/10. 8, 16, 32GB for 2008. Each CPU model used the ram differently.
