That would be interesting.. also what about the GTX 680 and 780? How do those compare? What card would give you the most bang for your buck currently? Titan Black would be the best performer? But how usable are the 680 and 780?
And what is the current minimum about of GFX ram that is advisable? 3GB, 4GB, 6GB? Assuming we are getting 4K and 5K material from time to time (and more in the future probably).
Thanks all,
Peter

Thanks for confirming. We might upgrade to Mountain Lion for now. See if the card gets support under Mavericks.. otherwise look into a new card at some point.
Thanks again.

Hi Elliott,
I think for the Mac side they just use the driver that is built into OSX?
If you look at the Windows Readme file, it specifies the Nvidia driver to use.
thanks,

Hi All,
Quick question for everybody. I see in the readme for 9.1.6 we should be using Nvidia driver 320.78. I went to the Nvidia driver download page, and I don’t see that version on the Geforce driver site for Windows 7. I see older versions and newer ones, but not that one.
Can anyone shed any light on what version we should be using (and where we should get the drivers from).
thanks!

March 27, 2013 at 1:23 am in reply to: Don’t shoot the messenger: Bug list on the BMD forum?I agree that the price is Resolve is very low and we get alot for our money.
But why does Blackmagic not charge for updates? That seems like a foolish thing on their part. They could use that money to strengthen their support team and also to improve the software and make it more bullet proof. It still has too many problems to be something I can fully trust and fully rely on. I don’t know of any software (other than open source) that gives away all it’s updates for free.
I think it would be better for the company and also for it’s customers to charge for updates (or maybe not give the software away for free). I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t expect to pay at least something for the new versions of the software. Just don’t know how their choices make the product better for their own reputation and the success of their customers.

Smart Man.
And thanks for the feedback on 9.1.1. Wonder if v.10 is around the corner…

Sorry White,
But MXF actually is Avid’s native file format. You should NOT need to use AMA to get DNxHD MXF files into Avid. Blackmagic fixed this bug in the latest version of Resolve so that great.

Thanks Peter,
We will upgrade the RAM then. Does it matter how many sticks of RAM or what size they are for best performance? Or just put as many in as we can afford? Also for our setup using Resolve 8, it wouldn’t really matter if we boot up in 32 or 64 bit right? When we move to 9 we would want to make sure we are in a 64bit OS environment right?
thanks much,

Can I ask for a little RAM advice as well?
We were thinking of upgrading but wanted to see what would be the best choice.
Our current setup is a Mac Pro 2009 with the 2 x quad core 2.26 cpu’s. We are running OSX 10.6.8 and Resolve 8 (will move to 9 at some point). I think we just run OSX in the default kernel mode (32 bit right?). Resolve is still just 32bit on OSX right?
So we currently have 6GB of ram and wanted to see if it will help to increase that amount and if so, what would be a good number. we do run into the out of memory message sometimes.
thanks so much,
Peter
