Just an quick update on my endevour to optimize my CPU. I was able to Overclock it to 3.2GHz with an idle Core temp of 36C (CPU temp = 28C). Fully loaded within 50C (4 cores). I think I can live with that. I stress test them with Orthos…

P.S.: the 20+C temp you are reporting is the CPU temp, not the core temp, add 10C to it is probably what your core runs. Which is still very good.

I have XP64, not Vista 64. I have not upgraded yet and am contemplating the advantage of upgrade. Would most software survive in the 64 bit environment?

Do you Overclock yours? I am able to do so up to 3.0GHz so far. After 4+ hrs of Stress test, Core0=56C, Core1=54, Core3=47 Core4=48. CoreVoltage = 1.2625V. (without OC, the temp is around 47C for the highest; I bought a Zalman Heatsink like yours) Going back to your original post on the temp, which software do you use to detect the temp? I use CoreTemp. If I use Speedfan, it reports similar to yours (20c). However, it is not accurate. There is a beta that deals with Quad CPU and after updating it, the reported temp is the same as CoreTemp. I realize you said ASUS has its own, but, I am not sure if the reporting mechanism is true for the Quad either. Would you mind trying CoreTemp and see what you get?

P.S.: TomHardware gave our Zalman a rating of 5 on cooling and failed on installation! Yes, it is awkward to install that fan. The holding clip touches one of the cooper pipe as well.

Thanks All, I am running to get another heat sink. But, honesetly, what is an acceptable temp on idle and on full load? (i.e. CPU temp and Core Temp) BTW, what model # is your heat sink, Vincent?

“Let me explain better. I’m wanting to synch a certain point in a music track with a certain point in voice over track. Peter I think I understand what you said. What I’m not sure of is there a way to put a maker on a specific clip? If so, how? Further, so I have two markers, is there a way to automate synching them or do you just drag them until they meet? Second, yes, if you have 2 markers on 2 various clips, they will snap together at least or I think there is a way to automatically join them as well. If your clips (Audio and Video are sepearated, then, it will be harder, somehow you have to sync up the audio to video first and group them.

I guess it depends on what you mean by easy. It also depends on how you get the “clips” in the first place. i.e. If you capture the audio and video as one clip, would finding an audio pattern on a clip, apply a marker, then finding an audio pattern on the second clip where the same audio pattern occurs, then apply a marker to that, then line them up easy enough? (It should be easy especially if you plan ahead during taping.) Everything can be much easier if you plan.

First, thanks. I really appreciate you take the time to install trial to test this. But, like I said in my last post, it was not there no matter what I tried until I click on the T, then, it is there and I can drag and drop, do whatever, it never goes away. Strange. P.S.: The reason I am doing this is that we are planning on opening a simple video editing class for my church. I need to find a software to teach and affordable for the regular users. We decided on PE4. (I personally have CS3).

Someone in the Adobe.com answered me, but, personally, I think PE4 is little buggy. Basically you have to click the T on the preview monitor to get to the title with animation, not from the File > New > Title route, but once you gets those animations, then it stays. Weird.
