I am having a problem trying to render a PNG sequence much in the manner you described. This is how I want to do it for exactly the reasons you mentioned (ability to tweak individual emitters, etc, after re-importing to the NLE). However, my alpha PNGs come back very ‘dirty’ looking in Sony Vegas. The edges are darker and blotchy. Doesn’t seem as transparent. How do I get it to retain it’s original clarity over the footage? If I render from PI and leave the background intact, the final looks great. If I hide the background, and try to do a PNG with alpha, it doesn’t look right when I re-insert over the same footage in Vegas. What am I missing? Any ideas?

    Thanks–PW

Did you ever find a solution for this? I’m having an issue with the alpha channel as well. I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong when overlaying the PNG sequence over my BG video in Vegas. Is there a special setting or compositing mode I need to be in? I’m not sure if my images are 32bit or not, or how that affects things. Thanks.

I too am having issues getting the P2 stuff to import in the new version of FCP. I have the red exclamation point as well. Any tips?

Wow, thanks for NOT helping. I DID do a search, and eventually found it. I’m sorry you had to belabor yourself with my pitiful little query.
