May 5, 2007 at 4:57 pmIt is possible that your FCP project file become corrupt when the drive got disconnected.. Try and open just FCP and not the project. You should also try and and trash your FCP preferences.

May 5, 2007 at 5:06 pmTrash your FCP prefs to reset it to factory default and then try to launch the application. If it launches ok, then your project got corrupted when you disconnected the media drive, this is a very bad thing to do when FCP is running.
Once you get FCP running, you can try to open the project but it’s very possible it will crash again. You may need to just create a new project and import all the media into that new project.
One other thing you can try is to disconnect the media drive again, correctly this time by ejecting and shutting it off, then launch FCP so it does not try to find the media. If it comes up ok, then your project is fine, but a piece of media got corrupted. You will have to figure out which clip it is and trash it.

May 5, 2007 at 11:30 pmIn addition to Walter’s advice, I would use the last autosaved version of the project before the crash, and forget the current version. Open the autosaved one, and resave as the ‘master’ project file.
Good precaution in these situations. It may all look fine for a while, then head south….

May 8, 2007 at 4:54 amWow, thanks for NOT helping. I DID do a search, and eventually found it. I’m sorry you had to belabor yourself with my pitiful little query.

May 8, 2007 at 5:01 amThe point is that in the 4 1/2 hours you wanted for a response a 2 min search would have found you the answer, besides it is not nice to hijack another persons thread with your own questions
