No need to deliver prores.
I am looking at 2.5 hour timelines. Have you experienced good, bad or otherwise with long timelines prores?
Is it fair to assume that the lack of response to this thread is an indicator that very few people are using prores on PC. Are you aware of anyone else other then yourself with prores on PC?

I was liking the look of this unti until I realised there were no audio inputs. my sdi stream does not have audio embedded out of the video swithcer yet. I still need to combine them.
What if I were to use ki-pro and convert prores to something CS4 PP friendly in Procoder?
Thanks for your suggestions, I will continue my research.

Sorry I have been posting on other forums. I think I stated this elswhere. Uncompressed is not necessary. Just a clean reliable way to record HDSDI out of a Panasonic mixer for editing later with CS4 PP vista.
The features that I like in ki pro are.
portable
up/down/cross convert
built in/removalble recorder/hard drive with firewire
record HDSDI to hard drive and record down convert simultaneously. -
No reply on the new thread with regards to prores on PC. As you say, must not be a lot of people using it. I am certainly not interested in being the one to break new ground with untried codec.
sure is a sweet looking machine. I liked the idea of being able to record an SD downconvert simultaneously for quick client dub and backup.
Is there a PC equivelant that you are aware of. something with the recorder built in?
I will continue my research.
Thanks

I am currently looking through the archives to see if anyone is having problems with prores on CS4 PC. I havent found anything yet but am still looking. Maybe I will pose the question in a new thread.
Do you have first hand experiences with prores on PC?

just read some stuff from PP archives and it looks like prores on PC is stabel. Sending an email to my boss today to go and buy it.
Thanks for your help.

Actually I have posted the same question on the HPX camera forum as well and have been pointed in the direction of the Ki Pro. Also had some discussions on the Ki Pro forum as well.
I am pretty muched convinced it is the unit for me but I am looking for anyone to confirm that the prores codec for PC works well with CS4 Premier Pro. I will search the archives to see what users are saying.
Thanks for the info.

This is very encouraging.
Are you speaking in theory about the use of the prores codec with CS4 on PC or have you seen or used it first hand?
I will pose this question on the Premiere Pro forum as well.
Thanks for the info. This unit looks like a home run for me.

my reserch shows a ki pro forum right here on the cow. I will see what that forum has to offer. thanks for your help.

I have been reading up on pro-rez HQ. You are correct, In my situation that would be overkill. So I can in fact fit my shows onto this unit.
So it is a question of what software I require to be able to read that firewire drive onto my PC. I will do some research but if there is anyone with first hand experience with this please jump in.
thanks
