i forgot about the decklink extreme hd. it’s only a hundred bucks more, so you can ease into hd and get a 444 product when you need it. I havent looked at both specs and connectors, but it seems like the sd extreme is made obsolete by this product

  • this has been this way for years. i’ve stopped worrying about it long ago.

i would get a decklink extreme now, and upgrade when you need to and sell the old card on ebay. the cards are so cheap they pay for themselves in a week, if not in one job. and when you do need hd in the future, all those products will be cheaper anyway. it does not pay to try to “future proof”. the gear just gets better and cheaper sooo fast.

    wow, an actual constructive reply
    thank you shane!
I suppose power in our whole building could have gone bad, thus affecting all systems.
all systems do have UPS, but I guess that’s not a power conditioner…
I tried something similar a while back, but I think I still had reference feeding the card.
I will try and post results

yes if you read my post, you will see that bars was tried on only one of the systems
the results were posted as a diagnostic note
and it does provide sync when using the system in sdi

it is otherwise irrelavent to the problem
all the systems are having the problem when receiving a true sync feed from the grass valley generator

and again these systems did not have the problem previously – the only thing that has changed in the facility is software updates

yeah we have done it for years. only way to go
we like the pioneer dvd recorders. the recorder can be set to record 3/4 or 16/9. they also make pal/ntsc models which come in handy
go to bhphoto.com and you’ll find whatg you need

i don’t know. what we had was the video dropped out or flickered every few seconds during renders, but after the render the picture was good so we ignored it. this “bug” came and went a few months ago. haven’t seen it since.
