Thanks Walter. Well thats a bummer. I think if Aja was considering writing the drivers for DaVinci any time soon, they would have mentioned it at IBC. I sure would rather be purchasing a new Kona than Declink for my Davninci system.
Cheers,

September 7, 2010 at 1:12 am in reply to: question about OWC Multi-Mount 3.5” to 5.25” bracket setYou can mix regular drives with SSDs in the same box. You cannot mix them in the same RAID Array. So a reasonable scenario would be to have 2-SSD raided to be the System Drive, and 4-magnetic drives RAIDED for working storage.

September 6, 2010 at 12:52 am in reply to: Happy to report my mac DaVinci Resolve is up and running!!!!Hi Darin,
models are available from the following manufacturers:
Magma
Cyclone: https://www.cyclone.com/products/expansion_systems/600-2707.php
OneStopSystems
CubixI haven’t read of anyone testing this out yet. But it seems like a obvious solution to wanting both a Redrocket card and a RAID card.

September 5, 2010 at 5:48 am in reply to: Happy to report my mac DaVinci Resolve is up and running!!!!Awesome Jake. That is good news indeed. As far as why Color? I’ve got many archived Color projects. And every once in a while, particularly with the features, the producers come back a year later and ask for a minor change to support either a new distribution format or such. So I’d like to know I can open up all those projects if needed.
New work would definitely be in DaVinci.

September 5, 2010 at 5:38 am in reply to: Happy to report my mac DaVinci Resolve is up and running!!!!Aren’t there any intrepid beta testers willing to hook up an expansion chassis, thereby proving forever (or not) that we can actually have our cake and eat it too? I’m speaking of course about both Redrocket and a RAID card for starters.
There are about a zillion colorist around the world ready to sing your praises for uncovering that nugget of truth.

September 4, 2010 at 12:38 am in reply to: Happy to report my mac DaVinci Resolve is up and running!!!!Are you finding any incompatibilities with co-resident software? I’m thinking about FCP suite (I know Color may have two video card issues), and Adobe AE, etc.
Basically, I’m wrestling with trying to keep my 2009 MacPro as a one-machine does it all, or if that is going to be a nightmare and I should invest in an additional MacPro for Davinci.
I know there are workflow issues with a one-machine shop. Just looking at options and budget.
Cheers,

A lot of people who already purchased system components based on the now public requirements would be pretty iritated if they learn a few weeks later that better components were certified.
