ask to speak to someone in executive relations….they tend to be very helpful…the first tier at the call centre just follow the flip chart.

the mantra reads “Apple do not speak of unannounced products” so no one knows for sure.

but what i would say is that the studio suite is due for a refresh – especially now that the intel switch is completed and resources can go back to app development.

i think it is interesting that the official apple NAB invite borrows the final cut studio artwork….so to me that’s at least a little hint as to what is being announced.

we shall all know in a couple of weeks time.

I have a feeling that MPEG 2 files are locked to standard 720×480 NTSC or 720×576 PAL. I dont think MPEG2 supports custom sizes it’s a restricion of the codec, that’s what i’ve found when using cleaner anyway.

March 10, 2007 at 1:16 pm in reply to: Jaggie Graphics and XDCAM HD HQ 35 FCP sequences?

    hey Nate,

are you refering to cutting in a 4:2:0 sequence for the cut, then copying adding graphics and rerendering in an uncompressed sequence?

    Hi Wayne,

sorry it’s more of a question in theory. We are 90% of the way in going with XDCAM HD as our aquisition format and I just had the thought about the graphics when i was considering the 4:2:0 colourspace. DV has issues with graphics and text because of the 4:1:1 colour space and was curious to see whether XDCAM had the same issues or whether the 35mbs made this a non issue.

    thanks

March 5, 2007 at 12:33 pm in reply to: LCD field monitor

    Hey guys

thanks for the responses. I don’t think i was clear enough in my initial post. I’m actually looking for a field monitor as opposed to a studio monior. something small, handheld, battery powered, that can be used in the field – either run and gun or set pieces in studio. it’s really just so as a director i can see the shots and direct the shooters i work with better.

    thanks
