    Here’s my situation:

My initial request for the crossgrade was sent to Apple via US Mail and included my original discs as required by the offer. Not having received the crossgrade or any confirmation after 5 months (I know it was too long of a wait, but I’ve got more important stuff going on than to babysit Apple – also this same situation could have occured if I’d sent it March 15th). I checked on the status of the order via internet.

Apparently there was no record of my request. On April 2nd, I faxed an inquiry as to the status of my request to the number provided and included a copy of my initial paperwork and photocopies of the original disks.

I recieved a letter from Apple denying my request because the offer expired on 3/31. Calls to “Customer Service” have been no help – “sorry, you missed the deadline”. I’ve drafted another letter and would like any input on where or who to address it to that might be able to help resolve this situation.

    Thanks for your help!

ask to speak to someone in executive relations….they tend to be very helpful…the first tier at the call centre just follow the flip chart.

There’s another thread a bit further down on this very subject entitled “Long time Apple fan shaking with anger”

Reading the “Longtime Apple Fan” post was not encouraging at all. But, if FCS 6.0 is about to be released, will it upgrade from 5.04? Was the crossgrade just a patch to keep people using the Intel machines covered until 6.0 was finished?

In other words, am I wasting time worring about this because I’ll need to buy the upgrade to 6 regardless of whether I’m running 5.04 or have crossgraded to 5.12?

In order to upgrade to 6.0 (when and if) I would imagine you will need the original discs to benefit from the reduced upgrade price. You don’t have them which creates another problem.

Just talked to a guy at Apple Tech. Indeed verion 6 will be something everyone will need to upgrade to (if they so choose and want to keep up with the latest advances). The crossgrade was a patch until 6 was ready. You will not need the original disks in order to upgrade, just the serial numbers and activation codes from your previous version.

So it’s not all that bad unless you want to migrate to an Intel based machine prior to purchasing the upgrade to version 6.
