I recall on a previous software combo probably FCP5 that colorista showed up in both FCP and AE.

I guess it’s the FXplug thing, which also means you now have to have two versions of BCC these days….fair enough if you never had the ability to use a plugin set with multiple hosts apps, it’s very annoying when that was once possible and it gets taken away.

    that’s capitalism for you!

can you just confirm where you are selecting the trillions option ie the output module in AE and are you selecting prores 422 or prores 422 HQ?

That could be it I guess. I’m in the middle of a big project so can’t afford a major upgrade.

would be good to find out if your process can be repeated on a FCP 6.0.1/7.2 system.

    hey jeremy,

yes trashed those prefs in the path you supplied, restarted and still in the output module in render que tab/video output/ depth drop down menu….the only choice i have is millions.

    I have FCP 6.0.1 installed.

It’s very strange that we are seeing different results….there is something I am obviously not doing correctly.

    hey Jeremy,

read the thread and repeated what you did and I can’t get prores to render in trillions. just to make sure are you selecting trillions in the output module dialog?

    thanks

    thanks

that’s what i thought….the difference between 8bit and 16bit I imagine would be better handling of banding issues?

seems the BM dv easy set up is to blame. will capture perfectly with the apple dv set up, but get the no communication dialog when using BM set up.

will take it up with the blackmagic crew.

November 7, 2007 at 1:22 pm in reply to: letterbox on output?

    thanks Kristian

i actually need to cut in an anamorphic sequence, but wanted to letterbox my 16:9 seq ‘on the fly’, via the decklink HD card, as the old sony monitor im using appears to be 4:3 only.

I thought the card had an option to letterbox output which would correct for the monitor im using, but it looks like that’s not the case.

    thanks Dan,

one other thing is the breakout cable on your Decklink HD extreme ridiculously short? on my previous Decklink SD card it came with a long breakout cable. This one is so short it’s virtually useless!

    thanks
