i do need to keep all the logging info. so i think your original suggestion will work best.

oh the luxury of having assistants…i guess this is how the posh editors work!

the projects the assistants have been going are bins only ie no sequences have been created other than the default one when you open a new project.

all i want to do is import the bins and clips from these digitising session projects to my master projects for editing.

does that make sense?

so once i have dragged and dropped their logged clips from their project to mine, those media clips with logging info will stay connected to my master project and not the projects they were digitized too?

I use BCC 4 the most in FCP as well as the Nattress film fx set. Trapcode is now available inside FCP and Motion. the trapcode plugins are great if you dont already have them in AE.

I didn’t see the 1997 print date….I used to have a 20″ PVM L4 or L5 great SD monitor. seems that this might not be all it’s cracked up to be.

a company is selling of its post gear, cameras, decks and edit gear. Might not be what I’m looking for after all.

will be feeding it via SDI from my decklink HD pro card. mostly only doing SD work so no need for HD monitoring yet.

With the speed in which technology is moving just wanted to ask the question to see if any new solutions had arisen lately.

Coming from a fibre world I appreciate how the cost of storage has been slashed over the last 2-3 years and that these eSATA solutions are incredible at the price point.

I guess things are just never cheap enough for indies!!

I was hoping for a less labourious backup solution ie Raid 5 but in our budget it looks like manual backup is going to be the solution we can afford.

is there a strictly SD solution that offers speed and redundancy? how do you rate Raid 1 ie mirrored drives for protection?

can you do raid 5 with internal drives in the new mac pros? is that recommended?

I know Mr Zelin would be fuming at my penny pinching….ive read his posts in the past, and i know you get what you pay for, but i am stuck with a finite budget to buy everything mac, software and drive space.

just looking for economical options having worked with fibre channel in the past and knowing we dont have the budget for that. I’ve had unlimited budgets in the past so this is the first time ive had to do it indie style!

any tips appreciated.
