If your footage is 24p footage, make sure you have the field dominance in compressor set to progressive and that the frame rate is still set to 24. This should give you a 24p DVD that will look great.
(I believe the default settings in compressor are 29.97 with a lower field dominance. This will make 24p footage look pretty bad).

Don’t know if anybody is still reading this thread or not, but I expereienced the same problem recently. It happened when I upgraded to 4.1.2. Whenever I tried to burn my disc I would get the “compiler file error” see log. I tried to re-install DVDSP and still had the same problem. I was able to correct this problem by building the disc first (does the muxing and compiling and creates VIDEO and AUDIO TS folders, which I never had to do in previous versions) and then burning it from DVDSP works just fine. When I first learned DVDSP years ago i was taught to use this method, but over the years I guess I got into a habit of cutting out the build step (which worked fine until the upgrade).

    I hope this helps!

It looks like the QT files that do not play are the windows media audio 9 standard codec. We have Flip4Mac installed on the machine and the G5 Quad that has the same set-up will play this codec properly.

Great customer service certainly cannot be under-valued. Do you have to buy any kind of a warranty plan for the support, or do they offer that with any of their cards. Also do they offer that support if you do not buy it directly from them?

    Thanks Ben.

Thank you everybody for your input. I guess I knew there is no “full-proof” way to back up, organize and archive, but these suggestions will be very helpful and probably help us avoid any major disasters. Thanks!!!

Thanks. Maybe I’ll try and hold out for your DVD, sounds like just the thing I could use. Will your DVD also be discussing overall computer organization (such as Photoshop or AE project files that were created for a FCP project)? Any idea on what the cost will be?

    Thanks Walter!

I don’t have disk warrior (although I just read a little bit about it and think it may be an investment in the near future).

I may be showing a bit of inexperience, but I had never heard that you shouldn’t capture to your main hard drive. I totally trust that you are correct but nobody has ever mentioned that to me. What is it that makes this such a big no no? This could very well be why my system is running slowly (I don’t always capture to this my maid drive, but have definiely been guilty on several occasions).

Again this forum is teaching me something that I never learned. Thanks!
