Joel,
The good news is that you aren’t crazy. I’m getting the same issue. The bad news is that I don’t know what’s causing it. I swear that this was not always a problem. It’s only been in the last couple of months.
Someone mentioned a solution that didn’t work for me – changing the Easy Setup in FCP before importing to the frame rate of your clips.
I thought that maybe it was the newer version of the plugin so I went back to an older version. That didn’t seem to do anything. If I look at the original clip off the card, it’s in sync. Then I wondered if it was some ProApps update that did it. But I just can’t imagine after tons of googling that there aren’t a bunch of other people with this same issue.
If you ever find out the problem, please post it here and I will do the same. I’m going to be talking to some people this weekend that may have seen this problem. Hopefully they’ll have an answer.

Thanks.
For kicks, I went to The Foundry and they don’t even list a version for CS5.

If I have CS4, is there any way to use Keylight from that version with the CS5 trial?

Beau,
You and I have the exact same machine. My understanding although the experts that are helping us can confirm is that if you are running Snow Leopard, you can use CS5. I was reading about this this morn before I asked my question here.
You can’t boot into 64bit mode but you can run 64bit app like CS5 as 64bit. The way I understand it is that you won’t see ALL the benefits of 64bit but you will see a bunch.
Now, let’s see if I’m right. 😉

Thanks for the help. That link was especially helpful.
Another question would be if my RAM previews would be better in CS5 because of the ability to use more RAM. Specifically, would the RAM previews be quicker or would I be able to see longer green bars or both (or neither).

Thanks Dave.
Just to clarify, I have 2 x 2.66 Dual-Core Intel Xeons. Made a mistake in my earlier post.
I haven’t done any rotoscoping to date. Most of my footage is HD. I’m a pretty novice user right now but would like to do more. I guess I just get frustrated with waiting on previews and rendering. Not sure if CS5 will help in that aspect given my computer’s specs.

Oops, bullet points 3 and 4 are the same. Just do one of them.

I think I understand. Try this.
– Create a Boris Crawl and put it in the timeline. Don’t worry about being exact right now as you just need to see if this works for you or not.
– Put the playhead at the beginning of the clip in the timeline. You won’t see any text on screen yet.
– Load that clip back into the viewer
– Double click the clip to bring it into the viewer.
– Click on the Controls tab
– Click on the Position X/Y crosshair. This will bring up a red crosshair in your Canvas.
– Click and drag your mouse in the Canvas to the left. At some point, you will see the text move onto the screen. When you let go, that will be your start point of your crawl.
Hope that helps.

If you’re asking what I think you’re asking.
I’ve done this before in FCP and for some reason, I can’t recreate what I thought I did a year ago.
However, if you use the Boris Crawl, you can set the “Position X/Y” to what you want it to be. You don’t have to keyframe it.
I would just go to the first frame of the generator and then set the Position X/Y.
Note, I think you have to render this anyway.

This one came out just the other day.
Note that I don’t own a Canon DSLR and I’ve never gone through this process but I may get the new T2i in the future and have been watching out for this rumored plugin. Just read about it this morn.
