You cant work with the mp4 files in fcp.

A cheap software/hardware solution doesn’t make you a great editor.
You can give anyone a mic or guitar, doesn’t mean music comes out. -

Audiofilters in fcp are previous century.
Use soundtrack, logic or protools.
Or wait for fcp 8 which hopefully has all the soundtrack pro plugins built in.

What kind of mac do you have?
If you have a 5400 rpm laptop drive then forget editing prores. Try apple intermediate codec.
But still. You need a dedicated sata or firewire drive for proper editing. -
ProRes 422 HD is around 20 MegaByte /s.
You are playing from your system drive?
Get a dedicated harddrive for your ProRes files

A MacBook Pro 13” from this century will blow your G5 away.

what is even better is change your HDV timeline to a ProRes Timeline.
This will improve text, graphics etc.Export quicktime with current settings from FCP.
Then use compressor DVD preset with Frame controls ON
Resize filter to BEST.Then Burn in DVD Studio Pro.

No?Remove Final Cut Studio with FCS Remover. ALL of it.
Just install FCP without any Soundtrack Pro libraries.Next step.
Use above tools or clean install.
