    Thanks for your help guys.

I did as you suggested Floh and the disconneted clips re-sync just fine. SO I guess it is simply just corrupt media. It sort of wierded me out a bit though because usually I get any number of error codes and ‘bad frame’ type warnings when this happens. Which as David says is actually quite rare these days.

I’ll re-acquire that clip. Hopefully the damage isn’t on the tape.

    Cheers

    Hey Zeno

    here’s my two cents:

IMHO M100 is basically the best edit interface on the market. Over the years I have worked with Avid, Lightworks, Premier Pro, Final Cut and some others I can’t even remember the name of and I still think the M100 suite beats the rest hands down as an efficient, easy to use sound/picture editor.

Although I mostly opt to use Adobe After Effects for FX and Titling work the Boris suite which M100 comes bundled with will do what you need it to (based on the link to fire/sunset – burning houses in a wide shot). Now that media 100 will run, not only the same system but the same drive as the FCP pro suite you can even enjoy the delight of cutting on M100m and popping across to the Color for grading or tapping into any part of the FCP suite including DVD studio and Soundtrak Pro.

    Hope this is useful

    Cheers

    Thanks Floh.

You are a gem. That’s exactly what I’ll do.

I’ll check out that thread as well because I’ve already upgraded to 7.5.5 and I don’t seem to be having any problems. Although I did have a problem exporting WMVs out of QTPro (via F4M) but that was fix by reinstalling the previous version of F4M. Have to say the F4M support people were excellent.

    Hey Wick

a couple of questions. Do you know what impact (if any) doing the backward jump from QT 7.5.5 to 7.5 will have on F4M studio subscriptions?

and would the QT 7.5.5 of doom be responsible for not being able to playback a .mov exported out of M100 in the animation codec and the subsequent inability to export out of QTPRo to WMV?

    Cheers

Unfortunately Tim I don’t have an answer for you but I can tell you I’m having the same (or similar) problem. In my case I do have a full version of F4M studio Pro and I’m trying to export out a 3min .mov to WMV and the blue progress line just gets to about ‘2mins left in render time’ and just stalls.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi again.

Thanks so much for your responses. This is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. My apologies, I realise I was being a bit vague in my original post.

But never the less Andy has hit the nail on the head I am worried about a ‘broken codec’. Which is exactly why I’ve avoided HDV.

Cheers again to all of you for all your help. I’ll do the tests but I’m now satisfied this camera should be able to do what I want it to. Shame it’s not 4:2:2 right out of the box though. Ah well can’t have it all for 10k.

    Hi Greg,

do you mean in real time? If not what about an FTP site. In sometimes use mega upload which is a free service.

    Hey J,

it’s unfortunate that you’ve had this experience with M100 reps.

I have to admit my experience has been totally the opposite. Over nearly ten years I’ve had nothing but committed and positive dealings with the M100 team.

Hope you get it sorted right this time.

    Hi Olf.

Is this a crazy question? Do the lenses from the DSR 500 fit on the EX3? If so, have you tried them. How are the results?

    Cheers

Thanks heaps for this info floh. Sounds like some more work needs to be done in order to get the post side of RED up to speed and user friendly. I’ll definitely be testing the work floh before I commit to any path.

Don’t s’pose you’ve handled anything off the viper cam through M100? My guess is there’ll be similar kinds of issues.

    Cheers
