  • WMVs fail to export…

Posted by Tim Allen on October 18, 2008 at 7:45 pm

First of all, let me just say how ridiculously annoying it is to have to deliver my videos to clients in WMV format because they “can’t view QuickTime files…” Funny, seeing as how QuickTime is free. Whatever.

When I try to export this video to wmv, and hangs right around 10%. Doesn’t matter if I export it from QuickTime Pro, Compressor or right out of Final Cut. (I have flip4mac installed)

I’m able to export other videos that were cut on the same timeline format and everything, but this particular project is giving me issues.

    Any ideas?

Is it always 10% or is it at 30 seconds? The free F4M has a 30 second limit until you buy the program.

Unfortunately Tim I don’t have an answer for you but I can tell you I’m having the same (or similar) problem. In my case I do have a full version of F4M studio Pro and I’m trying to export out a 3min .mov to WMV and the blue progress line just gets to about ‘2mins left in render time’ and just stalls.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Pretty sure it’s right about 10%. I know I have the full version because just a few days ago I exported out nine 3 minute videos no issue. Now this!

    Help!

Don’t know what version you have, but there are problems with versions of F4M. This from F4M Forum:
    >>Update to Flip4Mac 2.2.1.11. There was a bug in which some hi Q one pass VBR settings would cause encodes to hang. << Have you looked at the F4M forum? https://forum.flip4mac.com/forum/categories.aspx?catid=10&flcache=5436205

Well… No luck. I updated my version of F4M, and I’m having the same problem. BTW, I have the Flip4Mac WMV Studio Pro HD.

This was working fine last week.

Mmmm. I haven’t had the problem you describe, so I’m at a loss. Have you trashed your F4M prefs?
If not, do that for sure. Have you posted the problem over on F4Ms forum?

I’ll be sure and post it over there! Thanks for the advice.

As for the prefs, where are they? I’ve looked under the usual locals, but don’t see anything for WMV for Flip4Mac.

    They’re listed as Telestream. File/Find/Telestream.
Delete the Telestream Plist files (I think that’s all of them.
Some are in the User Library, some in the main Library.
