March 31, 2009 at 6:37 am in reply to: EX3 Matte box/shoulder mount set up. Advice please.Hi Olof thanks so much for that link. That baseplate looks pretty sturdy. Have you had experience with it? I noticed in the promo blurb they mentioned it ‘aided’ handheld shoulder work. Have you used this rig to operate from your shoulder?

I did the download. serial # accepted ok. now when I click on the program icon to open it, it gives me a warning: Media 100 can not run because the hardware is not installed. Install Media100 hardware or run diagnostic application.
Ok so I try t run the test ap in the meda100 folder and it says driver failed. So I ran the KONA conflict checker just because it seemed like thing to do and there’s no conflicts.
So it seems the new M100 software can’t see the Kona card – is that right?
The software is still listed in the extensions in mac info but I can’t remember if the Kona card itself was ever listed in the hardware section of mac info but it’s not there now.
Anyway, you got any ideas what might be going on here and how I might be able to fix it?
Thanks in advance for any more help.

thanks for that Floh. I really appreciate that.
yes I can confirm it is V 13.0 I’m having problems with.
now I just have to work our how to do that update. Is it just a matter of re-downloading a trial and using my current unlock code? wasn’t sure if it’d work with the new unique user ID? I’ve emailed M100 about this also.
Wouldn’t be great if M100 had auto updates like apple does.
thanks agin for your help

i’m not sure that it’s official that sony will do this. but as it’s a sony design fault you’d hope Sony would want to be seen to do the right thing by it’s customers. although I’m also pretty sure they’re not going to be singing it from the rafters either.
keep in mind the EX3’s are now shipping with them – so it’s clearly an issue. but for now I’d suggest just going back to your supplier and see what happens.
Chris are you able to post a picture of the problem?

Hi Chris, my supplier has informed me that sony is going to send a ‘modification kit’ for me – free of charge. Great news.

Hi Ted
I’m pretty sure the new M100H/D suite will play happily with FCP on a Kona system now without having to reboot. I have the older G5 Quad system with KonaLhe and do have to reboot. But now one of the big selling points of M100 is they play happily together (I’m gonna upgrade sometime soon). In fact you can now import/export timelines between fcp/m1oo systems – cool!
Although before you rush in I’d post this same question over in the M100 forum (if you haven’t already) Floh will confirm this for you.

Hi MIlton,
My thoughts echo many of the others in the sense that there really is no ‘easy money’ or ‘quick cash’ solutions in this business. I’ve seen many an operator start up with this kind of focus in mind and have invariably failed within the first year or two. As someone mentioned above, people who project this kind of image usually attract mostly grinders who kill your business.
However, I would add you are in a very good position to prepare for starting up a new business because you have a day job that’ll pay our bills whilst you identify your market and develop a strategy around that. Then when the current economic war is over you’ll be in a nice position to pick up ‘quality’ business.

Thanks for all your hard work. I have a few of your DVDs as well as being a regular viewer of your on-line tutorials. You have informed and inspired me.
I have kids as well and as someone else here said they grow up to quickly. Enjoy fatherhood. As Lou Reed said “it’s the beginning of a great adventure”. Although I think he was talking about taking drugs. But you get the picture.
