Hi Jens,
I am not at my ‘video’ computer now, but I’m sure you have nailed it. I was following a tutorial and didn’t realize CC Composite was dependent on another effect being applied. As I think about it, the name implies the need for something beyond the the base image, I just didn’t make that connection.

Is the dust always in the same spot? This is not the same as the healing brush, but I did create a macro which used the patch tool. If all your photos are the same size and the dust is in the same spot, this may work. One issue is how do you know where the best sample is to replace the dust?

Are you thinking about just changing the dpi? It may look like you have a smaller image (with the same clarity if you zoom into it), but it really is the same image. You could make your montage a higher dpi than your original photos to get a similar effect.

Thank you Richard for putting out all of these tutorials. I am the type of person who would use the manual to find the new features and learn about them. Now that Adobe no longer ships with manuals, these tutorials are great in that they show the new intrinsic functions.

One question I had while watching this was how is this different than just masking a blurred layer? Seems like duplicating a layer, gaussian blurring it, and then masking the areas to expose the original provides the same result. Is this a different blur algorithm?

You might be on to something…
The font (Simplified Arabic Fixed) looks fine in character map, when I double click on the font file in its folder, and even the preview in Word. However, when I apply the font to some text in Word, it does not change to the font.

I’ll have to see where that font originally came from.

Realize I’m coming in a little late here, but if the graphic is fairly monochrome or linear, you could bring it into a vector based program. There is usually a ‘vectorize’ command that essentially does an edge detection and creates a vector graphic. That would allow you to scale to your heart’s content.

Look up stroke path. It is an button in the bottom of your paths tab. Whatever pen is active will be used to stroke that path.
