    Freaking. Doy.

Thanks guys haha, allow me to blame that on something other than my own obvious oversights.

Yes, as #6 in my workflow list above pointed out, the solid is set to accept shadows. The text is set to cast shadows.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, we have an electronic agreement for the discounted price, plus me being credited and retaining the right to use any portion of where my work appears for my own demo reels, etc.

The font was called “FixedSys” which has been a default Windows typeface since it has even existed, so no issue there, but it all worked perfectly until it just didn’t anymore haha. But, at least it’s working now.

Thank you for your reply. Nothing seemed funky in the expressions; however, simply changing the font fixed the problem. I downloaded a font that is more true to the style I have going anyway, so it worked out for the better!

Yes, I would simply be doing the bits they can’t do and absolutely not teaching them.

Fantastic advice from seasoned vets, as always. Thank you all.

  • Thank you, but I’ve seen that tutorial, and it’s to create the iPod Nano types of streak which is exactly what I wasn’t looking for haha. I believe I found a solution, though!

Yes. That’s what I was having some difficulty imagining since the scene is so bright and flat.

Joe, when you say to do light stuff on a black layer, are you referring to precomping it then setting it to Add when you composite it? If I remember correctly, I did that with muzzle flares with great success sometime back, but I don’t remember if I precomped it or not before I set it to Add.

EDIT: I’m an idiot, Joe. I just asked a question that you just explained above haha. Sorry, I’m running and gunning on my smartphone right now.

Good points. The scene from corridordigital was shot during the day. The light and particles envelop the whole scene making it look like dusk.

Absolutely phenomenal responses and thoughts, all of you. I love this forum more and more because you guys are so reliable and helpful when all I’m used to (with the people around me) are broken promises and “YEAH MAN WE SHOULD TOTALLY DO THAT” (then three months later nothing happens and you can’t get a hold of them).

Nick, I could not FATHOM no-showing a job like that. It would be a death sentence for reliability and reputation. And not even manning up and having the courtesy to return your calls after he blew off a project? Wow, talk about a complete lack of class and integrity.

Bob, as I near-instantaneously learned when I first encountered your replies on my original thread, your comments are deeply insightful and helpful.
