I tried doing it through the Lite version and it works.
With a few bugs:anamorphic sd did not get flagged properly so when opening my mixed sd media sequence in FCPx, formats were a bit all over the place. Cross dissolve does get replaced but opacity adjustments do not make it through.
Titles appear as a transparent clip connected to the primary storyline. For me the fact that audio does not make it through is a deal breaker but hey, Resolve lite is for free so…

thank you for the infos!
I bought the F2 before they released the Qio so at that time it did not come with short eSATA cables.
I contacted Sonnet and they’ve been great as they will sell me the necessary cables I need for redundancy.

I have good memories of working with Lightworks. We’re very interested to see it ported to the Mac OS later this year as we don’t want to go to PP and are reluctant to go back to Avid.
Incidentally, my mentor on Lightworks, who was a very respected features editor in France, was working with a single window. Yep, you could do this 20 years ago.
Lightworks had a flexibility re its interface that no other NLE ever had. And I think it should be this way: let the editor configure his own. If it was possible 20 years ago it surely must be possible now…

they will always move if, in the prefs menu you have full overlap selected, regardless of wether you had enough media or not, which is a bit stupid IMHO.
If you have Available media selected, FCPx will try to apply the transition with what’s available and will shorten its duration if available media is shorter than default transition. In this case, unless you are at the very firts frame of the media, it will not move it.
Whilst trying this out, I found out that because the default transition is centered and you can’t change that (another stupidity), FCPx needs a minimum of 3 frames to complete a transition.
I have not found a way to make a 2 or 1 frame transition, wether by defaulting it (another stupidity: transitions are expressed in seconds…) or by trimming it.
At least not in PAL 25…
There is a long list of things for Apple to fix…

What I’ve heard is that re certification for FCP7 Trainers will take place over 60 days following the publication of the FCPx training book. Said book supposedly ships septemeber 20 from Peachpit.
Don’t know about certified Pros schedule.

Without going into the details of chroma keying (your need to read more about it is obvious – not trying to be demeaning here), here’s part of your solution:
If your disks are fast enough (i.e. no FW 400, FW 800 is borderline), import your HDV as ProRes (don’t bother with HQ, no need)and your render times will be shorter, as you will go from a long gop codec to an intra frame one.
But don’t expect fantastic CK results if you start with DV or HDV, there just isn’t enough chroma information in those codecs for that.
Oh and if you plan to go the FCPx route, the ideal machine will be expensive if you want it to be really fast as FCPx can use all the RAM you will throw at it.
