If your on a PC get MDV which is a 3rd party app that helps you scan media folders and list the results by project.
It’s exactly the sort of media function Avid should have included.

I think it was a change in the java code license that required Avid to remove older versions from download.

Most post houses will have kept tgeir own copies anyway so it shoukd be possible to track them down still.

Two ways of fixing this.
Change your project to Progressive and you should gain green motion adapter dots on the timeline clips indicating MC is adapting the I to P you can then change the method used to de-interlace.
However without a 3rd proper monitor to see the result you are working blind.
So the other method is to output interlaced and then use squeeze to de-interlace where you can preview the result and tweak.

As with most things in Media Composer it’s to allow you multiple ways of doing the same task.
So you can use keyframes to adjust the audio level but you can also use the audio mixer, and best of all you can use both.
So if you’ve neatly ridden a section of audio with keyframes and then decide the whole section needs to come up or down a bit instead of having to lasso all the keyframes and move them all you can adjust that clip in the audio mixer.
And since V7 you now have a small mixer fader at the start of each clip.

If that was captured into FCP then its an FCP codec.
You neef to go back to FCP and media manage it to ProRes first.

Open one of the files in quicktime player. You’ll get a warning about not having the right codec. But open the inspector and see what codecs listed.
My bet is that its a non PC supported codec.

There are a few issues to consider.
Firstly monitors change as they age. So you need to regularly re-calibrate to ensure they are accurate.
We have a Sony Grade 1 HD CRT and that is calibrated before each serious grading session and also every few weeks as a regular check. (CRTs need more frequent calibration)
We use a Sony probe that connects to the monitor and runs it’s own calibration process but you still need to set a number of other variables manually. And ultimately it’s an engineers eye that does the final tweaks to ensure it’s right. This is because the space the grading is done in will affect the “look” of the display. So even with a correctly setup grading room there will be some inherent display offset needed.
As you can see from above this isn’t an easy or cheap process but then spending a lot of time and cost grading to an incorrect reference is a waste of time and money so it depends how important your time and work is.

WHen in MC if you use the file open bin command and navigate to a bin it lets you open bins outside your project. They are displayed inside the other bins folder to help identify that you don’t own them. And yes unless they are locked on a shared storage system you can still make changes (as you’d have to for collaborative working)
SO normally duplicate anything inside a bin and move out the duplicate.

But as said just like FCP you can easily make a copy by just copying the project at finder/explorer level but unlike FCP you can actually step into the project at that level and copy/move bins.

So you have far more power than save as.
And best of all you can just save out copies of bins as backups or to share with other editors (you can copy at finder/explorer level or do a save bin as) and the Avid attic saves backup copies of bins not the whole project making recovery more granular.

Always best to make a fresh new project with the same name ( becsuse Avid media is named by project name). Copy at finder/explorer levels any useful bins. Then make a dump bin and copy across all the other masterclips in any other bins. Otherwise a match frame open hin will fail.

Last I heard H265 was expevted 2014.
The same quality as H264 but half tge fike size.
But 3 times tge encoding/ decoding effort.
Si that 2 hour H264 encide will now take 6 hours!
And its in an aging QT wrapper.
