  • How to get older versions of Avid updates?

Posted by Mark Norgate on December 13, 2013 at 4:43 pm

    Hi all,

I have two systems running Avid 4.0 and 5.0, and I want to upgrade both to 5.5. Avid doesn’t sell the older updates anymore and I can’t find an answer to whether getting the latest upgrade gives access to the older versions.
How would you recommend I go about this?

    Thanks,

There as a notice that was sent to all customers that older versions of software were no longer going to be available for download for whatever reason I can’t recall. I would suggest to log onto the Avid Communities and make a request there and Marianna Montague will come to your rescue.

I think it was a change in the java code license that required Avid to remove older versions from download.

Most post houses will have kept tgeir own copies anyway so it shoukd be possible to track them down still.

That was it – something about a java license. But I would think in this day and age Avid could figure out another means for downloading older versions that did not rely on a java license?
