It works because the AAF then contains the links to the sources and in resolve you add the sources to the media pool and it can re-link.
The OP isn’t going via Resolve so to have online media in MC you need the original AMA sources to be online in MC first before you can relink to them.
Yes for sending to Resolve you just need the sequence no media need be online.

Jons instructions will work if the original AMA clips are still linked and play ok.
If they have gone offline you will need to re-mount the required AMA sources before you can re-link them.

You didn’t need to delete the original AMA master clips. Just save them in a bin somewhere.

When ready to relink you have to re-mount the AMA clips you need. So show ref clips on the final sequence and choose to see columns source path and source file. Sort by those and you have a list of the AMA folders/files you need to AMA mount.
once they are AMA mounted you may find the sequence links to them automatically or you may have to do a re-link on the sequence.

Glad it worked out.
Creating a title was just a different way to get MC to make media on your drive so I expect it to fail but would indicate it wasn’t an import issue. The fact that it solved the problem is a bonus.
I suspect there may have been an issue with the creating folder MC makes and the last import that happened. The title creation may have flushed that out.

Your import settings seem fine.
I’m curious what may have changed to cause this.

The normal troubleshooting steps would be:

Create a new Avid user and try with that.
If that doesn’t help create a new project and use the new user created and try importing into that.
If that doesn’t work try creating a title and saving that (does that title create media that plays?)

The suggestion to create a txt file in a media folder is to check you do have read write permissions inside the avid media folders

Are you able to play media already on the system?
In media creation settings on the first tab are none of the tick boxes ticked (make sure filter based on resolution is off)

Can you actually create and delete a text document in a media folder?

User settings are best done by using the export option under the settings tab in the MC project window. You then export to a USB stick, take to new machine and then under the same settings drop down import the user settings.

Your projects could be stored in 3 possible places. You own home directory or the public documents or you may have selected external so it could be wherever you selected.

You can search for the project name with .AVP on the end and find the project settings for it. Then copy the whole folder you find that in.

First off how was the media originally ingested? Was it AMA linked and transcoded or imported?
And how did they deal with the various framerates?
If you import media it is framerate converted to the project framerate so normally you’d import into dummy projects at the source framerate.

If your offline media clips have different frame rates I suspect the previous AE did just that and used separate projects to import at those framerates so you may have to do the same.

If going to Protools I’d Transcode first to be safe.
Make sure you have just the audio bed. Then transcode and select the audio options. Normally 16 bit, 48Khz WAV and transcode. Make sure you set long handles (I normally give 100 frames)

Once you have the media playable in the dummy bin you should be able to leave that bin open. Select the offline clips (or sequence) right click and choose re-link. ensure all drives selected at the top. turn off current project and select link to open bins.
