Media Composer 7. Consolidation. Foreign compression type Error
Hi everyone.
I get the following error when I try to consolidate AVCHD clips in order to edit the sound in pro tools.
Some of the items selected for consolidate contained foreign compression types, which could not be consolidated. See the console for details.To consolidate these clips, please transcode them to a native compression type first.
Console output.

Is there anyway to get around this? E.g. a plugin or codec? Or do I have to transcode the audio first?

If going to Protools I’d Transcode first to be safe.
Make sure you have just the audio bed. Then transcode and select the audio options. Normally 16 bit, 48Khz WAV and transcode. Make sure you set long handles (I normally give 100 frames)Pat Horridge
