I wouldn’t yet. AJA IO has been good but a few glitches since 8.3 BM is a life of hurt. Laggy. Issues with tge card, drivers. Had one editor walk away it was so bad.

Oh and of course rename the avid mediafiles folder on the local drive until you have check the media move is ok. Then delete that local media.

A similar idea to Shames.
First create a title and save it to the external drive. This will create the correct folder structure.
Make sure the media 1 folder copied from the local drive is renamed 2 and lives next to the 1 folder that was created with the new title.

Don’t move projects between major versions. Make a fresh project with the same name and move bins.
Moving media is fine. Going up versions is ok. Going down should be avoided.

You can move a master clip in a bin to a different project. You can even reveal the media files and physically relocate them. But take care if they are Avid media files that they are in a valid location. But the media will still be showing as belonging to tge project it was created in in Media tool.
Use consolidate or transcode in the new project to make new media that belongs to that new project.

No that’s wrong. DnX36 isnt finishing quality.
You should be able to put the prores clips in an Avid media folder and relink your sequence to that media.
If its ProRes then you need to be a Mac to do the same as source export.
if you are on a PC you need tge colourist to send back DNX media (Dnx185x or similar) or uncompressed.

We got a StorageDNA system. Tge key is it uses LTFS file system. No propriety software to restore files.
You can use an AAF from Avid to tell StoragwDNA what to Archive or restore. And the next version will archive or restore Avid bins. Neat.

I know of a post house that is using some of it.
Media Composer cloud which allows a remote Media composer to access a facilities interplay and ISIS storage over a modest broadband connection.
It takes a bit of setting up and configuration to make it stable and you have to be aware of what it will and won’t do for you. If the expectation is a working experience just like being in the post house then you’ll be disappointed from the off. (I know a few attempts to make it work that have been abandoned)

Know what it can deliver for you and play to it’s strengths and it can be very powerful.

To get an idea of what the experience is like you can transcode some content to the newish H264 proxy resolution now available in MC. There is an 800Kb one and a 2meg one.

If imported then have batch imported at finishing quality? And of so at what resolution.

I’d agree with Michael. 16GB enough for single application use. 32GB if more than one in use.
