    hi,

I have a project that I have been working on in Avid 6 and I want to switch to Avid 7. Is there something I have to pay attention to? Can something go wrong?

I know I probably wont be able to open the project again in Avid 6 once I open it in Avid 7, so before I do the irreversible, I just wanted to know whether there might be anything problematic about switching to a newer version of Avid.

    thanks in advance!

There may be certain advanced features of which I am unaware but for the most part we have had no trouble between these versions. You can go back and forth between these versions easily. The worst possible case is there “might” be features of 7 that 6 does not have but all this really means is if you do something in 7, they simply might not be available when going back to 6. Your projects will not crash or become corrupted.

Don’t move projects between major versions. Make a fresh project with the same name and move bins.
Moving media is fine. Going up versions is ok. Going down should be avoided.
