September 22, 2012 at 9:07 pm in reply to: Video: Comparing the Cinema Camera and 5D Mk IIIHi Alex,
my problem was that clicking on “Original .MP4 file (1920×1080 / 1GB)” I got a message “You are not allowed to download this file” (or this was the meaning), but I could download the other 2 ones.
Today I tried again, and with Firefox I did not get that message, but the download didn’t started. At the end, using Chrome, the download started (it says 1 hour). Thanks,

September 21, 2012 at 1:50 pm in reply to: Video: Comparing the Cinema Camera and 5D Mk IIIHello Marco,
nice video and nice audio (the Solorio’s soundtrack is amazing). I can’t download the original MP4; is this due to my vimeo account (standard)?
On the compressed video (streaming) the difference between the two cameras is embarrassing!Ciao,

September 18, 2012 at 10:22 pm in reply to: XH-A1 Starting to get tape-length dropouts.Hello Eric,
you’re not the first one to get this problem… Many times the dirt is so resistent that the head cleaner tape is not enought for the job, and you may be compelled to send the camera to Canon service. Are you using consumer or professional tapes?
We noticed that using professional and/or master grade tapes the problem does not appear again. We are using two Panasonic models, AY-DVM63PQ and AY-HDVM63MQ (in the past JVC PRO HD tapes too, but now they are not anymore available anywhere).
Moreover we added an external solid state recorder (Datavideo DN-60) to avoid any problems… but since we are using it we did not get any drops on tapes 🙂Best Regards,

September 18, 2012 at 10:08 pm in reply to: Which camera would be best for motion tracking?Hi Jeremy,
there are some CMOS cameras that are “rolling shutter” free, like Canon XF300/305 and C300 (and probably the new ones from JVC). I’d choose one of these new designs instead of an old (but still good) CCD camera. The 4:2:2 50Mps recording data-rate will help to reduce the artifacts.Best Regards,

September 18, 2012 at 10:01 pm in reply to: Does Datavideo DN-60 really only work with Sandisk Cards (whitch I am not impressed with)Hello Ben,
late reply but may help.
I can confirm that the DN-60 works with Sandisk cards only. Lexar ones for example doesn’t work.
Sandisk CF cards are usually expansive, but I cannot say anything on product quality, that is always very good.Best Regards,

September 14, 2012 at 9:14 am in reply to: Can’t see image when input HDMI signal on DeckLink 3DHello Leonardo,
the best thing to do would be to RIP the blu ray disk, using one of the free and/or shareware tools available on the web, just google “blu ray ripper free” and you will have to choose only.Ciao,

Hi,
there are two possible Timecode sources:
RS422 port (and the intensity does not have it)
SDI with embedded Timecode (RP-188).All Decklinks support both, but be careful, since not all capture applications may support both sources.
Best Regards,
Paolo

I’m using the Shuttle on the Asus P8Z77-M and works on all USB 3.0 ports.
I made a quick test on the P8Z77-V LK and it worked too.
I did not made any special tuning, just plugged and played.Best Regards,

Hello Andrew,
many times the reason of audio problem was the TRS jack, but you may have other problems thay I may ignore now.
Have you tried to connect your speakers directly to the BMD outputs? Audio is clean or distorted?

August 11, 2012 at 7:54 am in reply to: Best setup for VHS capture with Decklink Studio?Hello Alex,
were you one of dpsVelocity beta testers too?I think it won’t be hard to find the related documentation of recording formats of each VTR system, for example I searched for Betacam https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betacam , “The original Betacam format was launched on August 7, 1982. It is an analog component video format, storing the luminance, “Y”, in one track and the chrominance, on another as alternating segments of the R-Y and B-Y components performing Compressed Time Division Multiplex, or CTDM”
About the old rules, I think that they don’t always work, so we have to make some tests on our equipment to see what is better.
