Jerry,
Yes I’ve just emailed them with pretty much the same post, so I’ll wait for their response, meanwhile I may just swop it for an external firewire?
Cheers

Richard,
Thanks for your response. Yes the scanner must be supported as I downloaded the demo version and it scanned images ok but with a watermark, I was just wondering if there is anything free out there as I never had to pay for scanning software before.

Post the versions of Quicktime, OS, and FCP you are using. Is there a capture card involved?
Jerry,
The Mac in question is a Dual 2.7 GHz running OS X 10.3.6, Quicktime 6.5.2, FCP HD 4.5, and the card is a Cinewave.

Yes I’ve tried that as well, so basically what you are saying is that footage captured at Photo-JPEG quality should play fine in the source window?

Jerry,
Yes it is set to Fit to Window.

Update, we can now see tapes that have been upconverted to 1080i, but our 720 stuff from the camera brings up the server error. There is a menu, number 20 I think mentioned in the manual that lets you choose, but it doesn’t seemn to be there.
Thanks again

Hello All,
This Varicam/DVCPro HD format is driving me batty, I keep getting conflicting stories as to how it works with FCP. I am also in Pal country (England), and was planning on editing a piece shot on a Varicam at various frame rates. Most of the footage has been shot at 25p, but there are some 50 and 60p stuff as well. I planned on going down the firewire/native codec route but now I discover that this isn’t possible at 25p- it seems that this format isn’t ready yet for a Pal workflow using FCP, can someone let me know when this will change? So my options now are to go in via my Kona 2, but I’ll have to downconvert as I don’t have a fast enough Raid for HD/SDI. Then I’ll have to get the online done elsewhere at great expense. Do you still need the FRC when you go in HD/SDI?
I’m starting to wonder what the hell I bought that 30″ Apple HD monitor and the Blackmagic HDlink for?!
Please help me I’m drowning.
Cheers

Oh yeah I am still using FCP 4.5 on Panther, so it’s not a version 5 issue.
