  • Try this;
    Put clip on timeline and ungroup video and audio.
    Go to the last word spoken in the video and drop a marker.
    Then go to the last word spoken on the wav graph and press S to split wav.
    Hold CTRL down and DRAG the edge of the audio event to the marker
    This will fix the sync problem if it’s caused by wrong sample rate.

    If you want to fix it by finding and seting the correct sample rate, calculate the ratio of change in duration in the above process and apply that ratio to the pitch of the wav event.

    How does it look like if you set “Project Properties/Video/Field order” to progressive?

    I think I can help with the night vision.

    Add in Min&Max, Color Balance and Brightness & Contrast filters in event FX.
    Then turn down all channels but Green in Color Balance,
    Turn down brightness.
    Turn down contrast a bit.
    increase MinMax values to get a low res look if you like.

    Actually it depends on what you name “correct”.
    I sometimes use color corrector tool to turn the leaves of a tree into blue. 🙂

    I’d also drop the .veg files into timeline unless they don’t contain too much effects that saturates CPU, memory or harddisk bandwidth and prevents you from working on the final project.

    Else, I’d render a lossless avi.

    If the blue box is not moving or animated, I’d draw a beizer mask around it with tangents at corners.

    Or duplicate the Blue box layer,
    switch composition mode of the upper layer to Mask,
    make the lower layer a child track,
    go in track motion of the upper track and scale down the Mask layer size a bit to crop the black areas out.

    To change prerendered video folder;
    Project Settings/Video tab/prerendered video folder

    To change recorded audio folders in Vegas;
    Project Settings/Audio tab/recorded audio folder

    To change captured video folder;
    Run Sony Video Capture
    goto Options/Preferences/Disk Management tab

  • (if present) Try disabling audio and test again.
    Also try turning off audio/video plugins if used any.

    Have you installed or updated any codecs recently?

    Since you say you have rendered it before with no issues;
    I’d try croping the first 20 mins of the project, copy and paste it as 20+20 to make it 40 mins then render it 320×240 at 500Mbps to test if its an issue about the project lenght.

    Some badly coded plugins may be the cause.
    Simple Delay audio plugin used to cause a problem like this.
    It rendered ok when used with partial renders or used at the end of the project, but hang the system when used early in the project or when you rendered the whole project.

    I think it’s not related to video resolution.
    I can lock up my Vegas with a PAL DV(720*586) project with 9 tracks of Media Generator’s solid colors.

    Try previewing or rendering to disk using Good or Best quality.

    Source content is just simple clip events from Media Generator.
    I insert a solid color video event into a new project(PAL DV), set mode to 3D Alpha and duplicate it 9-10 times and my Vegas goes “Not Responding”.

    When previewing, this happens only when my preview monitor mode is in “Good” or “Best” mode.

    When rendering to disk, it never renders.

    My system is P4 3.2 Ghz, 1GB ram, WinXP sp3, WD 7200 rpm HD.
