Sounds like you may be having an issue with 30 verses 29.97 fps.
Are you in NTSC land?
Try conforming the raw 5D footage to 29.97 in cinema tools before working on the footage.
I have also had audio drift in FCP for no reason at all. Trashing prefs and (tip from AJA tech) zap the PRAM on the mac (hold command-option-P-R on startup wait for 4 dings then let mac start).

As I mentioned above, I am using M100 latest Suite with AJA HDe and Matrox MX02, on the same systems. One is an 09 MP 8core 12GB ram RAID 5 Promise box (600+MB/sec). The other is an 08 4 core MP with similar RAID. Another Suite is the old M100 with HDR FX. I also have a couple 09 MBP’s with M100 and FCP, that can use the MX02.
So everything is the same for FCP and M100 on the newer systems. And M100 just blows FCP out of the water. All the SW is latest only one of the MBP’s is on Snow Leopard, the rest are on 10.5.8. I use an EX3 a lot and that does not really work with SL yet.
I usually use ProRes422 HQ on HD 1080p 60 or 23.976. SD is usually edited HD then played out on AJA or MX02 to Beta SP deck.
The only real advantage I see with FCP are the tabbed windows. If M100 had that there would be no comparison.
Bear in mind this is just my opinion and a lot has to do with the way I like to work. I like monitoring everything on an external Pro monitor all the time in full HD and I run external scopes full time as well, the AJA and Matrox do this very well.
In M100 there is almost never a need to render, but in FCP I spend more than half my time waiting for renders or jumping into STP and back, M100 has fantastic audio built right in including separate buses tracks can be assigned to with any compressor/limiter or whatever applied to it.

Well guess what I just tried Transfer again on some footage I shot yesterday.
And now I get the thumbnail error.
You have to highlight each clip and then import, after stopping thumbnail task. I had 45 clips to transfer.
It was a real pain.
At one point I got 30 to transfer before error came back.
I guess I am not so lucky after all.

I use a rock-n-roller to move equipment around, its old about 10 years or so.
Used it on Beta DVcam and EX3’s, no damage yet. Hauls cam bags, lights audio gear etc. I keep a couple milk cartons on it for sitting on and extension XLR chords etc.
It has 8″ pneumatic tires in the back and 4″ wheels in front.
It can also be used for a dolly with me riding on it shouldering the cam.
I think it is still made, it folds up for transport and pulls out to 5′ long.

I use SxS and M100 as well as a lot of tape and footage from Canon 5DmkII.
I decide what footage I need in FCP because it lays direct there.
Then I export by reference and import those clips into M100, this is important, you have import to the standard that footage is. Then once it is in the bin you can down-convert by conforming footage command. M100 can not import and conform (trans or down-convert) in one step.
It would be great if M100 could plat EX footage or h.264 natively but it can’t.
Once footage is imported and conformed it works really well, I use Prores422 for SD or ProresHQ for HD.

You have got to be kidding, you have been doing video since 97 nonlinear and you major updated w/o checking boards.
OK so I am being hard on you. But the boards are here to share info and not make mistakes,
I will always try a new OS or sw release on a system that is just for testing before I install on a working for money system. Or at the very least check how the forum members are doing with a new release.

Personally I really like the Miller Solo heads, the carbon fiber sticks are really nice too.
I have 2 of them for EX3 and they even support a DSR500, they are light and very smooth. One of them is 7+ years old and is still in perfect shape after lots of shipping and heavy use both hot and cold, -20℉ to 100+℉.
