The Miller Solos are excellent, especially the CF legs.
Very light, work well in the cold, and are very smooth.
I have 2 of them for EX3 and EX1R.

I would definitely do something about it. Tape is a good fix in the field.
But I would either take it apart to see what is wearing out, or if you don’t feel comfortable doing this, take it to someone like your local dealer, and have them investigate/fix before you get a more serious problem. When your shooting schedule allows some down time. Some dealers will even give you loaners or arrange a rental while yours is in the shop.
My local dealer here in NH has been very supportive over the years, with loaners and quick turnaround from Sony service centers.

In my mind the big question is:
What are you using the footage for?
That answer will be useful in advising how to proceed.
Happy New Year all.

The “shooter” could also convert the .mov (if the BPAV is gone) to another codec you have like animation or whatever Prores codec you have.
How are you editing the footage?

Give Matrox Support a call. They have been very helpful to me in the past.
If you have picture and sound on the mac, then it must just be a matter of the right settings to output through the MX02.
There is always the possibility of a hardware problem too.
Give them a call.

Try setting the output to 60i. Your monitor may not support 23.98. The mx02 has a setting in the control panel to do this.
I am not hooked up to my mx02 right now but I will check later today.
I remember this from an earlier project.

In the past, what $6,000.00 camera have you used that gives better results?
I have used Betacams 10x the cost that don’t even come close.
I think the images from the EX1 and 3 are outstanding for the money.
If it is not good enough then Sony has some more solutions for you and so does Arriflex. Not at the same price point.
I don’t mean to incite a riot but lets be real. These are inexpensive digital cameras and there are ways of keying footage from them that looks great, in my opinion.
And yes EX cams are 4:2:0 when recorded to SxS, but the HDSDI is 4:2:2
And why is the frame rate on this clip 18.79? See screen shot.

What profile are you using.
I have keyed much worse.
Yes I do see some noise here and there.
I am just wondering how much you messed with profiles if at all?
Try uncompressed instead of ProRes or if you have the new QT try the highest data rate Prores 4444.
Apples quote: “ProRes 4444. For compositing and digital workflows that require the highest-possible image fidelity.”
I would say that what you are seeing are compression artifacts. And make sure gain is at -3.

I see a little noise in the green and in the red sandbag. The grain does not seem to move around though.
It does not seem like it would be hard to pull a key on this shot.
What profile settings are you using?
Is the gain -3?

Hm…really? 🙂 Any details to share? ”
OK Clint, sorry I meant the EX1R.
I do have plates and wings for the EX1 and EX3.
I guess now I need a proof reader.
