EX1 handle coming apart
Posted by Felix Halter on January 2, 2010 at 4:01 pmMy Ex1 handle is coming apart slowly. It still works fine but has some play. Is this going to get worse and is there some screw I can tighten?
picts on https://www.baldwyn.ch/pages/ex1handle.html
btw is there a way to post picts directly on cow?
Thanks

January 2, 2010 at 4:58 pmMine too, but on top. I just slapped some gaffers tape around it, but the top screw seems compromised.

January 3, 2010 at 2:26 pmI would definitely do something about it. Tape is a good fix in the field.
But I would either take it apart to see what is wearing out, or if you don’t feel comfortable doing this, take it to someone like your local dealer, and have them investigate/fix before you get a more serious problem. When your shooting schedule allows some down time. Some dealers will even give you loaners or arrange a rental while yours is in the shop.
My local dealer here in NH has been very supportive over the years, with loaners and quick turnaround from Sony service centers.

January 4, 2010 at 5:56 amWell, I still have a few days prime support on that camera and so I contacted Sony this morning.
Just would have liked to know if somebody else had this same problem and tightened a screw somewhere.Felix Halter

January 5, 2010 at 2:33 pmWe had the same problem with the flip-out LCD. The screws don’t come with any thread locker from the factory, but I noticed that the replacement screws come with red loctite applied.
