  • LOL!!
Yeah we have to be doing something wrong.
No smart software engineer would design this so we have to type every time. It makes no sense.

Coming from FCP I miss this feature a lot.

If you’re on MC 7.0 at least you can now have access to a shortcut to add or remove gain.
You have to turn on the feature first and then you’ll see a little icon in the lower left corner of the audio clip. Clicking on it will reveal a slider so you can lower/raise the volume.
But don’t get too excited! If you work with dual mono tracks (L-R) you’ll have to set the gain for each track…
So not as quick as FCP but faster than before.

I also just came across a post saying that there was a keyboard shortcut that I haven’t tested yet. But it seems it applies the effect to the whole track
ALT(OPT) + SHIFT + Arrow UP/DOWN adjusts Clip Gain in Timeline
(when Clip Gain is visible in timeline settings & Track selected)

  • [Michael Phillips] “You can also look into the different options for AAF export.”

I don’t know anything about this
    I’ll look into it
As long as it allows me to move projects around, it’s all good

  • I also noticed the clips/files that are added to the folder with the sequence I consolidated in the project
I understand that it’s all the clips from the sequence.

So far I delete them but am I missing something in the reason why Avid does this or am i doing something wrong?

  • hmm… so a drive with several projects and media must look like a mess organisation wise?

  • Great it worked with copying the bin

    Thx!

  • [Michael Phillips] “1. Put sequence into its own bin (just to make management easier)
    2. Highlight sequence and select “consolidate” from clip menu
    3. Select your external drive and any handles you might want to add this method will move what is in the sequence plus handles.
    4. Click OK
    5. Your bin will now have a new consolidated sequence as well as a lot of .new clips.
    6. Open this bin in the same project on another system with the target drive attached.

I did this and ended up with an OMFI MediaFiles folder only on my drive…..

  • great, i’ll try this out

    thx again!

  • Thx Ricky for the reply.

So the term match frame edit doesn’t exist in fact?
But instead it is remove match frame edit, correct?

For some reasons all my match frame edit points are red and not white. And I am 100% sure either side was modified…
