Thanks Jeremy – I wasn’t aware of this. So I bet using an HDMI won’t make a difference.

Michael – The analog audio had the same problem. I have Roland DS-5 speakers.

    Thanks for your suggestions guys

No input at all. The monitor is connected component and the audio directly connected to the speakers using AES/EBU.

I’m cutting some XDcam 1080p30 stuff and since my monitor does not have an sdi input, I have to monitor through component at 1080i29,97. I read somewhere else that the crackling might be because I’m monitoring at another res.
I might try to connect my broadcast monitor through HDMI/DVI.
Is HDMI good enough for grading?

    Thanks for your help.

My Genlock is set to Freerun. I don’t have a deck, I mainly use the Kona for monitoring as I work with file-based XDcam.

Would a BB do the trick?

Sorry Jake for hijacking your post.

    Hi guys
I have the same problem with fcp 7.0.2, osx 10.6.3 and kona LHi 8.0 on an octo, 16GB Ram. It’s a brand new system so the kona never was on a previous version. Everything is up to date.
I tried the 8.0 NDD but it still has the same problem.
I will try to downgrade the control panel and the firmware. Hope it’ll help.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.
    Thanks
    Olivier

Edit: ooh and I tried Michael’s suggestion to route the system audio to the kona. It did not fix the problem.

I do this all the time, and it works great.
In Compressor, create a new setting template. In the inspector, choose “file format: Quicktime Export Components”. “Encoder Type: Elgato Turbo.264 HD”.

Once this is done, you can tweak the settings with the button “options”.

    Hope this helps.

    Hey Matt
Do you use “back to my mac”?
I was having problems creating a Quickcluster until I disabled “back to my mac” in the mobile me system preferences. You might need to reboot.

I know it sounds crazy but it did the trick for me, although I was using FCS2.

    Thanks for your help Steve.
This particular project is only 13 MB, but I’ve had problems before with projects bigger than 100MB as well.
I should start a new thread for this but have you had the chance to work with multiclips on FCP7? Is it more stable?

    Thank you Tom
I’ll try to uprade to the latest Kona driver, and if that doesn’t help I’ll contact AJA.
