I’ve used Topaz Video AI for upscaling old footage, and like others here, I’m impressed with its ability to sharpen and denoise—perfect for HDV projects like yours! I’ve also tried the Remini AI app for quick video enhancements. It’s user-friendly and great for boosting low-res clips, but Remniapp can be inconsistent with heavy ads for non-subscribers. Topaz feels more robust for professional work, though. Have you tested both for your film project?

That’s frustrating! If the file is older than R11, it might be trickier to convert directly. Have you tried opening it in an intermediate version like R15 or R20 first, then saving it for C4D 2024? Sometimes stepping through versions helps. Also, check if the file has any legacy plugins that might be causing issues.

    Hi,

I’m new to media production and still figuring things out! I love the idea of using the search function with 20 years of posts, but it’s tricky finding Adobe After Effects tips as a beginner. Adding the program name helps a bit, but a dropdown menu to pick forums like After Effects might make it easier for newbies like me. Thanks for this awesome site, I’m learning a lot!😀

    Hey Jacob,
Sorry to hear about the 1080p mix-up, that’s frustrating!

For Mac software to upconvert your shots to 4K using AI locally, Topaz Video AI (as Mads suggested) is a great option with impressive results, though it’s a paid tool. Another free alternative is DaVinci Resolve’s basic version, which offers AI upscaling and works offline, perfect for handling a large batch without per-shot costs. Edit your footage first, then upscale the master file for the best quality boost.

Hope that helps with your project!

    Hi Maryna,

I’m happy to share my thoughts as a creator on AI’s impact on content and uniqueness! I think AI tools are a game-changer—they can help generate ideas or automate repetitive tasks, but I’ve noticed they sometimes make content feel a bit same-y if not used creatively. For example, AI-generated scripts or visuals often lack that personal touch unless you really tweak the output to reflect your own style. On the flip side, it’s amazing for brainstorming or speeding up workflows, which can free up time for more unique work. I just filled out your survey (took me about 3 minutes, super quick!) and shared it with a few colleagues in my network—hope that helps with your research!
