    Salut !

That feeling when you realise your camera has been recording in doomed 1080p 20Mbps for the past 2 days of shooting… Right? … right.. ? Oh I’m the only moron who accidentally clicked on the mini lcd screen in full sun THE button that just suddenly records in shit quality ? What a great feature to have so accessible on a camera !

Anyway, I am looking for Mac software advice that could convert the shots back to 4K while potentially making them even nicer than had I shot them properly, why not, using AI, but locally, not a website (unless it’s completely free bebause I have a lot of shots and can’t work on a per shot price basis, it needs to be a software please).

Thank you for your suggestions 💚

    Hey Jacob,

Sorry for the late reply – I got sidetracked, and your post (email) disappeared down a long list of holiday emails.

I have had great results with Topaz Video – they bring out updates really fast, and gives great results. However, it is a render process. So you may consider doing the edit first, and then up-scale the master before adding graphics etc to it.

Sorry again for not joining in sooner.

    Hey Jacob,
Sorry to hear about the 1080p mix-up, that’s frustrating!

For Mac software to upconvert your shots to 4K using AI locally, Topaz Video AI (as Mads suggested) is a great option with impressive results, though it’s a paid tool. Another free alternative is DaVinci Resolve’s basic version, which offers AI upscaling and works offline, perfect for handling a large batch without per-shot costs. Edit your footage first, then upscale the master file for the best quality boost.

Hope that helps with your project!
