for me it is also unbeleavable that blackmagic disable this feature.
that function was one of the important features for me because i also work with cinema4d, samplitude pro and nuendo. with all applications i have a videopreview on my SDI-Monitor which is great!

    unfortunately i bought a decklinkcard again ( decklink HDextreme3 )
and i dont recognized that blackmagic killed the extended desktop-feature.

that was definitvly my last product from blackmagic. not only for that reason, also this buggy drivers all over the years driving my crazy.

i hope i find another good card with an extended desktop-feature.
sorry for my lousy english and greetings from germany.

i totally agree with that: please bring the extendend desctop back as soon as possible.
beleave it or not. the extendend desctop function was the main reason for me to buy a decklink again ( extreme3)

it is really a bad idea to remove a killerfeature that is so important for a lot of customers.

after the last years i can told you black-magic-guys your drivers driving me crazy! so many bug all over the time ( example: unable to use blackmagic decklink extreme3 with 3 montitors ) it is pain in the a.. to work with this buggy drivers.
for that reason i changed to avid. but there was one good feature on your cards that works also properly: EXTENDED DESKTOP.

AND NOW YOU KILL THE EXTENDED DESKTOP FEATURE?

this was one of the main features for me to buy a decklinkcard again.
for two months i buyed the decklink extreme3 because my old decklink does not run anymore under X64BIt with 8GB Ram. and now you kill this feature extended desktop! i use this function every for example with cinema4d.
in cinema i have a live “pal-preview” and can see how it looks like on television. this is perfect for testrenderings.

or if you play any videostuff with a mediaplayer. i dont have to start everytime premiere or after effects. just drop the player to the extended decktop.perfect.

now i payed a lot of money for your card and one of the important features is killed.

this is unbeleaveble. you cards are a nighmare for me, the drivers are so bad for years, many bug has been never fixed and so on.this was definately the last time i bought “professional equiment” from blackmagic-design

    sorry for my lousy english

for all the people who have the same problem, here the answer from the BMD-Support:

Thanks for the information. Interestingly enough, another tech was perusing
through this email and mentioned that this is a bug that has been logged.

It appears to have been resolved in CS4, but still resides in CS3. So the
good news that is that this is a known issue, logged as a bug and has been
resolved in CS4. The bad (or not so great news) is that since we have moved
support from CS3 to CS4, first priority is now on CS4. Hence, there is no
accurate time frame of if/when this bug will be resolved.

a major bug which is not fixed since 8 Months! and that is the answer. unbelievable!

  • Here the screenshots:

    1. Slow render BMD-Pal-uncompressed ( not more then 25% CPU-performance)

    2. fast render BMD dv-Pal (same uncompressed footage in timeline, 98 % CPU performance)

  • Hi Necemon,
The same Issue with driver 6.3
    Hello blackmagic people.
I hope you fix this bug a little bit earlier as the “playback lower field material in a upper-field timeline bug ” which appears with driver version 5.9

    btw:
I am very disappointed. One big bug fixed, and another big bug appears.
And that with every new driver version!!!
And i dont talk about tiny little issues!
It is elementary that you can mix up ( transitions) and playback
Lower and upper field material on a same Pal-timeline!
I think that should be the focus for your engineers at the future.
At the moment i am still working on a projekt with a lot of DV-CAM
and Digibeta-Material. Now i must copy the hole DV-CAm-Material
to Digibeta and re-capture to finish this projekt.

I start working with my decklink extreme card from the first official
    Windows-driver for Premiere.
But maybe now it is time to spend a lot of money for a matrox-axio card
I have no longer time for waiting year over year for a driver-version that really works

    Sorry for my horrible english

February 16, 2007 at 2:55 pm in reply to: Drivers 5.9.2 PAL DV field issues

    Same here !
Unforunetely my whole DV-Pal-Footage ( captured with an older decklink-driver ) is playback with wrong field-order( Decklink-DV-Pal and Decklink-Motion-JPG-Projects )
No way to mix up Motion-jpg and DV-Files on a Motion-Jpg Timeline . You have to change the field-order of the dv-Files in Premiere-Pro 2.0.

Native captured DV-Files ( Premiere Standard-DV-Project,captured via firewire )cannot playback at all without wrong field order. If you change the field-order of these DV-Files in premiere ( Decklink-DV-Pal and Decklink-Motion-JPG-Projects )there is still the wrong field-order. Nothing has changed. this is realy strange….

    Sorry for my horrible english
    Greetings
    Oli

  • Hi Oscar,
    Thanks for your help

After uninstalling BMD Software codec and installing the BMD Driver 5.71 on my secondery PC without BMD-Hardware all motion-JPG-files are visible in PPRO and AE but After effects crashes while rendering a projekt which contains BMD-motion jpg files. If i exchange the motion JPGs Files
with ” normal” DV Files caputerd with BMD DV Compressor, After Effects works fine ( same project)

March 8, 2006 at 4:38 pm in reply to: HD Pro and PPro 2.0 Big Problems!

    Same here…
    BTW:
The ” no field oder- progressive ” workflow is not a solution for my because the most of my key/fill material( comes on digibeta tapes, captured in upper field first mode)looks different after rendering in after effects without field order. If you ignore one Field it seems as if you are working only with the half resolution. The final Clip has always this unwanted “movie look” Animations, Typos (renderd in field order mode) are looking not so “smooth” as it should be if you ignore one of the two fields. The most footage which i have to work with comes on Sony Digibeta or Beta-SP in “Upper-Field-Mode” to me, so i have to capture and work with this two fields
    Sorry for my horrible english
