Oh nice! I’m moving very soon to Trondheim and will be based there, even though the heart and soul of the company is located a bit south of Trondheim.

Facility design.. Interesting. At what cost? 🙂 Long story short, I’m one of a few selected guys being offered almost free rent for office and some equipment (different kinds of monitors, Beta recorder/player, Harris scopes etc, a fullblown theatre for sound design and grading sessions on a 4K projector).

All of us having different skills, from project management to producers to sound designers and musicians to editors and me, an aspiring colourist.

I’ll take this further. Would be awesome to create a consistent look in each and every room and office – but it all depends on the price of course.

Oh wow! That looks exactly like something I’m after. Pricey? I don’t mind. I’d rather have something like that than some cheap IKEA furniture that makes my suite look like a toy room.

Does anyone know the measurements for the Resolve panel ?

I like what I’ve seen so far. Absolutely.

As far as I know, DaVinci Resolve for Mac hasn’t been released yet, so no, no one else than BMD can answer that. I have the HD Extreme 2 myself, and will definitely get the HD Extreme 3D if that’s the missing link.

Only thing I’m concerned of is the price of the new beast of a Mac Pro. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a tad more expensive.

I know the situation. That’s how it’s been for me ever since I started out, with Apple Color. I started in the small with amateur films, then progressed slowly to some more interesting stuff with some really good directors and photographers. Often they push the budget to the limits on the production, but when it comes to post production, nobody seems to think it’s something that takes a lot of time. I often (if not always..) have to give them a discount, small or big, in order to get the job at all, thus earning enough to at least cover the office, insurance, phone bills, food, rent for apartment, and if I’m lucky, I have some left overs in my pocket that I can spend on cool gadgets like a Playstation or something.

A 36″ grade quality monitor would be welcome. My 17″ is a bit small, but does the job.

I still can’t see the problem of jumping on the ‘Resolve for Mac’ train – except the big downer – double $$$ rates at your location. Which is a pitty.

Do you know something the rest of the world doesn’t know? I haven’t seen any rumors of “within the next six weeks” anywhere. Only that there was discovered a new GTX 480 driver and that the update cycle is way over due.

I’ve experience this too. I was almost there to sign a contract to do the gig, but in the last minute the client had the editor do the dirty work.. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry, cause it took too long and the project was delayed. Now, what if they had some dedicated colorist do it instead.. But it’s the ultimate truth. Clients believe the editor can do it – editor says “yes please!” and doesn’t necessary know how or what. In some cases though, the colorist can be an editor and really know what he’s doing, in both worlds.
