July 14, 2010 at 8:01 pmNo surprises there…
The story that I see unfolding is: a reasonable idea, given some clearly defined parameters that now needs to be generalized to accommodate a consumer/commodity base. I just hope that we don’t wind up with that horse designed by a committee — you know, the one that comes with one hump or two.

July 15, 2010 at 8:19 amjoe you really make me laugh…..i thought i was the crusty old cynic here but you beat me out again….wanna buy a used vuvuzela…i’ve cleaned all the spit out of it….hope this finds you well and busy and prosperous. i seem to really be getting ragged on by some of the guys caught up in the whole resolve on a mac thing…i think its a great idea and maybe one day i’ll even join the dark side….maybe the jedis at apple will pull out a super duper version color that kicks resolves ass to the curb……oops i slipped into a different time line……that was the alternate reality…hahaha

July 15, 2010 at 10:29 amDo you know something the rest of the world doesn’t know? I haven’t seen any rumors of “within the next six weeks” anywhere. Only that there was discovered a new GTX 480 driver and that the update cycle is way over due.

July 15, 2010 at 1:57 pmHey Guys, hang in there…
There are a couple of (coding) things the boys are tidying up.
What I can tell you is that we’ve been using it in our post house here in Singapore for a few weeks
now – grading TVC’s and long form … As a 20+ year colorist and more recently using resolve on linux for 3 years now, the Resolve on Mac is fantastic…It’s well worth the wait, prepare your suites…
Cheers

Well, that’s just it, isn’t it? The vast majority of the interested just don’t know what to do. Besides starting all over from scratch.

The recommended system specifications have been available for a number of weeks now and were posted here quite recently too 🙂
The only change has been that the GTX285 has gone EOL so the official spec card is currently the 4800 (Although some resellers still have the GTX285 available)
The new MacPros won’t make much difference as Resolve is a CUDA GPU based application – therefore 12 cores instead of 8 won’t do much apart from speed up render times a fraction.
The new card rumours are still just that, and the ATI cards mentioned wont make any difference as they’re not CUDA…

July 17, 2010 at 8:58 amWell, sounds like a typical move.
Present @ NAB, deliver @ IBC.
I am totally ok with that…helps me budgeting things and not shelling money out for those outdated MacPros.
And with the new GTX cards, Apple also might include stronger PSUs, more slots and other well appreciated features.
Looking forward to IBC…as every year 🙂
