I am getting an error message on the test render at about 4% progress:
“The system is low on memory.”

Vista 64 Ultimate
CoreDuo Quad Q9650 at 3.0GHz
8GB DDR2 RAM

Target is Vimeo/YouTube HD.

Save as type: Sony AVC

Template: Internet 16 x 9 HD 30p

Project Properties are:
1920 x 1080 29.970 fps
progressive scan
PAR 1.0000
29.970 fps
Pixel format: 32-bit floating point (full range)
Compositing gamma: 1.000 (linear)
Rendering quality: best
Motion blur type: Gaussian
Deinterlace method: none
Adjust source media to better match project or render settings is checked

Audio:
Master bus is stereo
Number of stereo busses is 0
Sample rate is 44,100
Bit depth is 16
Resample and stretch quality is Best.

All four cores run at about 97%, Windows Task Manager shows physical memory usage at about 3.12 GB (while it shows 2.65GB usage at idle). Then when I go tor ender, I get to about 4% progress on the indicator, the system gives me a “low memory” error message.

I rebooted the system, re-rendered, and still get the same error message.

Is this likely due to the (IrfanView) .jpg’s? Or is there something wrong with my Project Properties, or Render As selections?

Or is there some other issue?

Hi Ralph.

I also have CS2, although I only have it installed on my Vista 32 machine (laptop), because I am not sure what would happen if I installed it on my workstation (Vista 64). I suppose I could set a disk image restore point, and try loading it on Vista 64. Do you suppose the drivers would all work? Or am I just asking for trouble?

I have not had time to learn Photoshop CS2 yet. I see a tab on the right labeled ‘actions’. Is that what you mean?

And then what do I do?

I thought I should do a test render (halfway through the project) just to make sure these IrfanView .jpg’s are going to render (and not make my project crash).

What means, “Save project as path reference in rendered media”?

I got IrfanView installed and running with no problem, and converted a whole bunch of stuff in five minutes or less. Or so I thought.

Before the alleged conversion, the .jpg’s would not go onto the timeline. Every time I tried it, I got a red O with a slash through it. However, after the alleged batch .jpg to .png conversion, the files now show up in Explorer as IrfanView files. I was able to drag them onto the timeline, and so I just assumed that they were now .png’s. However, looking at them again, they are still .jpg’s, just renamed as IrfanView .jpgs. But for some reason they consent to get dragged onto the timeline now????

Now that the Sabbath is over, I thought I would go ahead and convert the rest of my .jpg’s to .png’s, so that it would all be done. I did the same as I did on Friday (at least I think), opening up IrfanView, and going to File >> Batch Conversion Rename. I selected all of my .jpg’s in D:MyPictures, and clicked on “Output Directory for Result Files”, which also gives me D:MyPictures. Then I clicked on “Start Batch.”

Now all the .jpg’s in D:MyPictures are IrfanView .jpg’s. They all drag onto the timeline, but they did not convert to .png’s (either).

I suppose as long as they drag onto the timeline I don’t have any real problem (so long as they render, which I don’t know yet); but what am I missing? How do I use IrfanView to convert the .jpg’s to .png’s?

Why do you want to shoot 60 fps, anyway?

I don’t know if this will help you or not, but I’ve got VP9 x32 and x64 both running very stable on fresh install of Vista 64 Ultimate on a Dell T3400 desktop. I’m brand new as an editor, but I expected a lot of crashes, and so far have not had a single one. (I’m having trouble getting Cineform NeoScene to stay running, but that is a separate issue.)

On the other hand, I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop that I cannot seem to get Vegas to do more than stay open a few minutes. I use the laptop as my ‘test bed’ machine, and I have loaded and unloaded a ton of stuff, and I suspect that a clean install of Vista would do wonders for it.

As I am doing fresh installs, I am doing a full disk image (to an external hard drive that I set off to one side) once I have everything installed, and up and running.

I’m just curious: how recent is your OS? Might a fresh re-install help? I know that is typically a groaner, because for me that would take a couple of days of nursing things: but with the addition of a clean disk image I am hoping that in the future, a clean ‘drive wipe’ won’t take any more than a couple of hours.

OK, so Vegas gives me a default of Prerendered Files Folder:

C:UsersMyPCNameAppDataLocalSonyVegasPro9.0

I should create a new directory:

D:Vegas Prerendered Files Folder

And change thd default Prerendered Files Folder location?
