When I reformatted my laptop (Vista 32 Business) I lost sound on some people’s DVD’s. I searched for the specific codec, but could not find it. In the end I installed the smallest K-lite codec pack, and chose ‘essentials only’ (four items, it said). I got sound back on the DVD’s, but did I probably also install some garbage? And how can I avoid this in the future?

I use the laptop mostly for testing, and maybe making thumbnails and such, but I don’t want to install any garbage, if it can be avoided (because that is probably why I had to reformat my laptop to begin with).

OK, it turns out what I have is a ‘membrane style’ keyboard. What I need is a ‘scissor’ style keyboard.

I typed in ‘scissor keyboard’ on Amazon.com, and came up with lots of stuff, for reasonable prices.

To be complete, I should expound.

They are supposed to release the new 32nm hexacore Core i9 in a month or two. It is supposed to drop right in to the LGA 1366 socket. So some guys are purchasing the Core i7 in 2.66 GHz now, and putting a really good radiator/dual fan combo on it:

and then they are overclocking it up to 3.whatever GHz (like maybe 3.4 GHz, since it overclocks really, really well, and is supposed to be very stable, even with just a good air cooler).

Then when the price drops on the Core i9 they will upgrade to that chip, without having to replace either their mobo or their DIMMs.

So this is supposed to be a great time to upgrade, because you can get an immediate 40% speed bump right now (before overclocking, and before hyperthreading); and then when the Core i9 comes down you can upgrade to six cores without having to replace your mobo or RAM (and maybe even without having to reload Windows).

Just to be sure to get the LGA1366 socket.

Yeah.

I forget where I read it, but someone said they are not going to make a ‘skulltrail’ (twin processor) motherboard for the Core i7. I forget if it was because of the architecture, or not.

If I right-click on the event and uncheck ‘switches > loop’, it seems to resolve the problem.

I think I can resolve this problem by unchecking Options > Preferences > ‘enable looping of events by default’.

It doesn’t make the dimple go away, but it seems like it does not loop any more.

Also, just as a ‘last straw’ kind of thing, have you tried 9.0c?

Now that you mention it, I do remember having to install AC3 encoder before. I googled AC3 encoder, and got this link from SourceForge:
