  • Hi Vladimir,

I’d hate to have yet another controller besides my Davinci Panel, though.

  • Hi Sascha,

I guess you don’t use the Davinci panel as my original post refers to some of the buttons on my Davinci panel. It’s a very capable panel, but it’s missing quite a few “hot keys” that I’d like to have. Maybe I can assign what I need to different button combo’s. I will read through the manual to see if I can find the how-to.

May 30, 2011 at 7:54 am in reply to: printing 24Psf to HDCAM 29.97i

    Jerry,

Thanks for your reply, and sorry that I wasn’t clear with my need. I was just matching TC’s in between the HDCAM 59.94i tapeout and DidiBeta tapeout. I was going to print 29.97 on HDCAM, but the deck had only Psf setting for the fps. Though I found out that 29.97Psf and 59.94i are the same thing for HD, I went with the 59.94i since I hadn’t work with 29.97Psf. I double checked the TC’s on both tapes, and they matched. No worry no more 😉

    Thanks,

I’m looking for a solution for almost the exact setup. Two stations shared for uncomp 2K. However, I don’t need more than 2 tracks of uncomp 2K. Please help.

And mine was over $20,000, and I’m still trying to calibrate it properly. Gary, how did you calibrate your monitor? I’m based in Korea, and I don’t believe there’s anyone experienced with this very new B420 model that was just delivered to me. I’ve changed my Spyder 3 Elite Probe to Eye One Display 2 Probe since the monitor only interacts with it or Eye One Pro. Anyways, I’ve followed the manual a few times, but I’m still scrathing my head when I see the result. My grades has been coming out quite a bit darker than expected with the factory defult Rec709 Gamut Controlled setting, which is why I’m trying to calibrate it to the perpection. Hate to see that my Cinemage not performing any better than the JVC 24whatever model that’s sitting next to it. Hmmmm.. I am trying to contact Cine-Tal for this matter. Just trying to get any advice from another professional user like you.

    Thanks,

    Hi Gary,

Thanks for your input. I still see the AJA is set for the letterbox option, which means I haven’t done anything to its setting. Nevertheless, I will try to trash the preferences and see if that does it.

    Thanks again,

yeah, all of this is fine. I have Kona 3 and JVC 24″ LCD with the Cinemage 42″ coming in a few days. HOWEVER, don’t you guys hate when your client says “hey, that doesn’t look like what we’ve just done!” after sending the video back to FCP? I just hate to repeat myself to every new client, and you know some clients who just stare at you and think you know what 😉 With this single reason and other few, I’m thinking about moving onto something else.

    Cheers,

Sorry it didn’t work out for you. I assume it’s the difference in between the original format of the video (ie. DVCProHD vs. HDV).

As for the H.264 option I suggested, it should be fairly easy for the client since it’s just double clicking the file. However, the playability of the data DVD could not be reliable depending on the client’s computer. For one, if the client doesn’t have the quicktime player, they will have to download it, which they may not prefer. Also, there are other factors that could make the H.264 data DVD not too viable such as the speed of the DVD player. I guess I’m suggesting it will be too risky for you to try unless you know the exact specs of the client’s computer. Sorry to suggest an option that was not so helpful for your situation in the first place.

I hope you will find the result that you’re looking for with the CCE product.

By the way, I wonder if you can make a H.264 Quicktime and burn that into a DVD as Data. Just asking since SD DVD will look blown-up if the client chooses full screen option. The bigger the client’s computer monitor is, the worse your SD DVD is going look.
