That makes sense. I just wanted to check that a large file won’t actually prevent exports, the way it would in FCP 7. That is one bug I’m very, very happy to leave behind.

I did this and it worked well. I noticed it copied over the entire file and not just the snippet of the video clip that’s in the project. Is there a way to have it only copy to the library the small snippet I used or will it always copy the full clip?

I’m doing this to work on stuff on a portable drive while traveling so I dont typically need the whole clip and I have space limitations cause of the drive too.

Just to make sure before doing this….this wont mess with the footage’s placement in other libraries and its connection to the external files?

I bought it a week ago so I’m pretty sure it’s the newest version. It’s 4.2.0

I looked in preferences and apparently, as it says, “No computation-capable GPU devices found.” I’m using a late 2013 MPB fwiw.

Any other way to make it faster or just get used to being patient?
