Can I use a photo of any size in FCP X or will things to large prevent rendering/cause other problems?
I remember FCP 7 giving me fits when a photo was too large. Does FCP X also give problems if photos are too large for it? I assume if it’s too big it would be slower. But will it have a problem rendering?

Depends entirely on your definition of big. I generally try to avoid any image above 5K resolution if I’m not planning major zoom ins.

That makes sense. I just wanted to check that a large file won’t actually prevent exports, the way it would in FCP 7. That is one bug I’m very, very happy to leave behind.

If your system doesn’t have much VRAM (256MB minimum, 1GB or more recommended), try to keep images 4K or smaller. Also, make sure your version of FCPX is up to date.
