Floh- So I got sidetracked but need to get back on this. I’ve got my other M100 system with a BMD Decklink Studio 2 that I’m setting up to be a legacy system with all my old decks. My newer system I’m running off an iMac. Obviously no pcie option which was why I wanted to use the mini monitor. This system will be pretty much all digital files in and out and I just need a way to get to a video monitor for editing. Any advice on my most cost effective solution? Looking at pcie expansion chassis but it seems a little crazy to have to go that deep to use a monitor. What do you think? Thanks as always for your input. N

Thanks Floh. My understanding was that other people were using it but I guess i’m breaking trail here.

Never mind. Handled. Had to install Prores codecs and get away from Motion Jpeg B.

Mark- I’m in the same boat. Will you update what you find? I have 20 years of stock that I need to be able to pull up for the tv station and have been toeing that same line. N

Floh- Looks like exactly what i need but i’m missing the process. Sitting on the timeline i have 20 segments that are a couple clips each. Export all pulls them from the bin but won’t do compound clips. So how do i get it to recognize the segments in the bin without them being compound clips? is there a manual somewhere that addresses this? More than happy to RTFM. thanks. N

Another one here. Been editing adventure flicks and action sports related movies/tv plus grinding out local weather and tv for a community tv station on M100 since 93. Super intuitive and having Boris available off the timeline is super workflow efficient. I still have my earliest versions of M100 software on floppies. Every time they would offer an upgrade I would ask Matt how far back we could go. I’ve also had my fair share of issues with all the different incarnations of m100 over the years but have also had great experiences with Matt and Wick. I miss the days of WWUG and the sheer number of voices but Floh has been the one man band on answering questions. I do have to say that a real up to date manual would be nice. I have to straddle the HD/SD fence with the cross over between the station and the professional post projects. As a result I use a Black Magic Designs card for all the different inputs and it’s a total crap shoot trying to get the two to dance. I sure did love the straight up ease of the break out box. I have 2 8.whatever boxes running on mirrordoors and 2 suites so still loving it but the blank look I get when people ask what I use gets annoying. Have to be ready to back it up with knowledge or I think I might lose jobs as a result. I’ll be here to see what comes next.

so using idvd or toast, it still burns the clip in as 720×486 and it looks squeezed on playback and super interlaced to the extent that transitions create weird horizontal lines. any idea why?

Floh- The problem is that the exported file looks very bad and the dvd as well. why would the file exported from a 4×3 program be the same size as the file exported from the 16×9? 720×486.
