Not sure that format can be video only. I would try the same out to ProRes.

Sure you could do this- just export the entirety of the take with the different effects applied- each as a new clip. Then create a new multicam clip with the multiple versions as angles. It will take a while and it will lose a generation but you’ll get what you’re looking for.

Well ‘way off base’ is a bit melodramatic for free advice isn’t it? But I’ll try not to take it personally.
My question is why are you creating TB’s of unusable footage? Is the creation completely outside of your control?

My suggestion would be to bring an LTO archive into the workflow- very cheap vast storage and you’ll always have the entirety of the media available for future use. The downside of media managing with trim is you are throwing away a generation and risking reconnect challenges down the road.

Can’t see a reason why you’d want/need to downgrade but the Project format wasn’t updated so it kinda doesn’t matter either.

Generally you start with original media timeline settings and then switch to proxy media for edit, then back to original for final export. All of this needs to be done within X for best results- ie ingest original media, edit proxy, export original res as final output.

Project as it existed in FCP7 and earlier’s nearest equivalent is a Library.

Depends entirely on the speed of the system. If it’s a MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt drives- proxy all the way. If it’s a Mac Pro 12 core with fiber channel raid, you could cut at 4K. If I’m not mistaken, the F55 shoots a proprietary Sony RAW format that needs to be transcoded regardless. So as with all post workflows- test test test.
