No way- the CF technique could not be more different than the HVX. It is 24p laid out to 1080 using the exact pulldown method used by the DVX100. Next question.

Won’t help much. I’d highly recommend getting a good shotgun mic- it will greatly improve sound over the built-in mic.

Definitely split- stereo does nothing for you with voices.

No I mean attach the camera to a proper monitor- for example the widescreen one you mentioned. The onboard viewfinder and LCD are designed for camera status and framing not critical color and exposure adjustment.

Shoot with the monitor so you can see what you’re getting. The LCD is not designed for color accuracy. Also you do not need to redo white balance everyday.

Er no. It’s DVCPROHD not HDV. If you want HDV you want Sony or JVC.

Basically a camera with 2/3″ HD chips and interchangeable lenses and the other modes of the HVX but not as pricey as the VariCam.
