Motion is pretty hot with just its built in plugins. Boris is nice, particle illusion particles, DV Matte is coming, Sapphire, etc. Anything you need more of?

It will work in full auto mode but you can’t expect the greatest results. The DVX100A is designed for prosumer/professional use and not full auto mode. Tons of settings on the cam that make shots look great. This is an easy camera to learn to use well but again- not point and shoot- same as the 500 it’s matching with.

Also- stock video card is not the best for Motion. You need an X800 or 9800 256MB for max power.

Dont know on the projector and QT broadcaster. But you’d be able to live switch it as with any other 60i signal and retain the film look.

Not quite as much low light capability as with the PD and of course all of the buttons are in a different place. I’d advise spending at least one day shooting tests with a good monitor. Definitely not a point and shoot camera.

As far as I can tell it has a similar AF setup to the DVX100A.

Wire removal is incredibly easy to do in post and actually made simpler if the wire is fairly clear and obvious in the initial footage. All you need is a plugin which you can find for whatever compositing software you use through Google.
If you wish to do it in camera best way to go is put the wire on opposite side of the actor’s body from camera and be careful in how it’s shot and framed. For quick edits you can get often away with bloody murder.
