Why keyframe- a throw behavior is much smoother and simpler.

Does not make any difference but it’s easier to do it during capture. Just make sure to use the easy presets- capture frame rate is 29.97, remove advance pulldown checked.

Use a dry head cleaner- it used to come with the camera if not the Panasonic one is a safe bet to buy. Other than that- keep the camera clean and stored away in a hard case.

I’d highly recommend mixing your audio down *before* bringing it into Motion. This is a motion graphics program so audio is a very, very low priority. Kinda like After Effects- which in its default settings doesn’t even export the comp with audio.

Perhaps it is inconceivable to the powers that be that in the case of Avid vs. FCP for Varicam- the less expensive/less “pro” NLE solution is actually far more technically capable of getting the job done.

Definitely- if you’re below 2.0 this is a completely different program- night and day.

DVDSP 2 and up are easily set in a basic mode that gives more power than iDVD while remaining about as hard to use. Students are there to learn, aren’t they?

Mixed- as in expecting them to cut seamlessly? That’s wishful thinking I’m afraid…
